Michael Barton Speaks His Mind - Post Mania and Raw Thoughts

There seem to be two camps when it comes to the events that took place during Wrestlemania and Monday Night Raw this past weekend. One is either enthusiastic and hopeful with all of the changes and fresh faces, or they are disgusted by The Streak being broken. One thing is for sure - there are a large number of people talking about professional wrestling right now. Let's actually get The Streak out of the way now, because I am pretty tired of talking about it at this point.
The Streak has long been considered a sacred thing to wrestling fans all over the world, but this match and angle (no matter how much WWE screwed it up during the build) has been something Undertaker wanted to do for three years. He lost to someone who brings tremendous legitimate fighting credentials to the table, having been a former UFC Heavyweight Champion. And in an era where it is harder than ever to get genuine emotional reaction due to this being the instant information age, one could immediately tell that this match brought out the emotion in everyone once it was over. However you feel about the outcome of the match, given all the facts involved, and seeing how rapidly Undertake seems to be aging physically, and it was the right time to do this.
The rest of Wrestlemania was really good, and even I found myself more engaged in the show than I normally am. I loved the Battle Royal (Kofi Kingston defies the laws of physics and gravity) and having seen Hogan slam Andre when it originally happened, it was such a cool spot to see Cesaro slam the Big Show. Daniel Bryan almost had to win at Mania, and he did so in pretty spectacular fashion. I thought for sure it was another screw job when he got power RKO'd through the announce table. Cena didn't need to be Bray Wyatt, but it didn't hurt him as much as I thought it would. Overall, it was a really solid show, and may have been the best Wrestlemania in close to a decade!
Monday Night Raw had it's usual post Mania shenanigans, because the crowd is a much smarter crowd than normal as far as the business goes. It appears now that Orton, Batista and Hunter are going to be taking on The Shield as faces, which is something I am actually kind of excited to see. Bryan as champion is going to work for the short term, but I am concerned now that the battle has been won how the crowd will react to him as a long term, viable champion. I don't see the need to align Cesaro with Heyman, but having him as a mouthpiece certainly shouldn't hurt. Was shocked that Paige beat AJ for the belt, but it's not a bad thing. She can wrestle, although this match was off especially the finisher. Bo Dallas is coming, Adam Rose is coming, Rusev is here and more are surely on their way.
Going forward, it is an interesting time to be a wrestling fan again. WWE seems to be having a changing of the guard, Jeff Jarrett has a new promotion which I will talk more about in a future post(www.globalforcewrestling.com), and there are a lot of moving parts right now behind the scenes. The next few months should be fun!
