Conor McGregor Talks: Coming Back To Fight Cole Miller After Injuring His ACL

UFC featherweight fighter Conor McGregor recently spoke with dailyrecord.co.uk about his upcoming fight with Cole Miller and coming back from an ACL tear injury.

McGregor will headline the Dublin card July 19th against Cole Miller, what his future plans?

“The way I see it panning out, I’m getting the title shot in my next fight. Everyone has had a shot and failed, the history of the division says that I’m next. I believe he (Featherweight champion Jose Aldo) has never faced anyone like me. I’m confident, outspoken and I can hear in their voices that they know I’m the next champion.”

In his last fight he beat Max Holloway via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night - Shogun vs. Sonnen on Aug / 17 / 2013. Following the bout with Holloway, an MRI scan revealed that McGregor had torn his ACL during the bout and would require surgery, keeping him out of action for up to ten months.

Comparing himself to Minnesota Vikings star Peterson, who came back from an ACL injury: “He came back like nobody before him and so will I. In future, people will study my recovery and ask themselves, how did he do that? Just like Peterson, I will be the poster boy for recovery in MMA. I’ve came back a different kind of athlete. I spoke to Georges St Pierre and he was saying how right after he started training, he was getting beaten by guys he shouldn’t in the gym. I’m a new man.”

McGregor has 12 knockouts, 1 submission and 1 decision victory in his MMA career. He is 14-2 in his pro MMA career. Prior to joining the UFC he was on an eight fight winning streak. He made his UFC debut against Marcus Brimage which he won via TKO at UFC on Fuel TV 9 - Mousasi vs. Latifi on Apr / 06 / 2013.

He is set to face Cole Miller on July 19, 2014 at UFC Fight Night 46.
