Tito Ortiz: "I’ll Kick Any One Of These Light Heavyweight’s Asses”

Tito Ortiz (17-11-1 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) not only made his Bellator debut last night against Bellator Middleweight Champion Alexander Shlemenko (50-8 MMA, 11-2 BMMA) He also beat the champion a quick, but effective way.

“My whole life growing up, people told me I couldn’t do something,” Ortiz said at the post-event presser at the Landers Center in Southaven, Miss. “They told me I was never going to achieve anything in life. I became a world champion after a year-and-a-half in competition. I helped to get the sport where it is today, and I sacrificed my life for it. I’ve had five major surgeries. People tell me I can’t do things and I just prove them wrong.”

Ortiz came into this fight with 8 knockouts, 4 submissions and 5 decision victories, but also has been knocked out four times, submitted twice in his MMA career. Ortiz is 2-6-1 in his last ten and 1-3 in his last five fights. His last win was over Ryan Bader via Guillotine choke at UFC 132 – Cruz vs. Faber 2 on Jul / 02 / 2011.

“And I just look at it, this fight, was already won before Shlemenko even called me out. This was supposed to happen. All this, that I’m living right now, is all pre-played out. I’m just living it the way it should be done. I’m just very thankful. I’m just living the American dream. I had nothing, and now, I pretty much have everything.”

“When I go home and I take care of my kids and I train my ass off, I’m a dangerous person, and I’ll kick any one of these light heavyweight’s asses. ‘Rampage,’ that includes you, too.”

Tito was suppose to make his Bellator debut against Rampage Jackson on November 2, 2013 at Bellator 106. However, on October 25, it was announced that Ortiz suffered a neck injury and had to pull out of his fight with Jackson.

Ortiz is next fight is unknown, but Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney said: “We’ve got to sit down with Tito now, and I’ve got to figure out how to con him into a tournament, trying to take a run at a world title.”
