Reaction Zone - An insult that set women's wrestling back 30 years

Nikki Bella seemed to be saying all the right things, in an interview with Mark Madden on Wednesday, but the truth is, there's just no way she and her sister Brie, along with Emma & Paige, could've thunk up that 30 second non-match on Raw on February 23 by themselves. You know the one, where Paige was knocked off the apron, and Emma was squashed for no reason. Nikki says she & Brie got the heat they needed, as if they needed any more. Bollocks, I say.

Ever wonder why there is the newly minted movement, #GiveDivasAChance? Granted, I didn't see the women's match on Raw on March 2, but it was an improvement. The truth is, the ladies have had spotlight matches in the past. The problem lies with, of course, Vince McMahon and his creative gerbils, who can't think up enough excuses for why the Divas get such short shrift.

It's no coincidence that former champ AJ Lee got things going on social media before her return, taking advantage of Oscar winner Rosanna Arquette's speech at the Academy Awards. Instead of inciting a feud with Lee, Stephanie McMahon should be considering stepping out of her role as co-leader of the Authority and being more of a leader in the women's division. Her father can be blamed, naturally, for the Authority storyline, stale and dull as that is, but that must soon come to an end, to allow Steph time to repackage herself, casting aside the hypocritical bully she's played for 18 1/2 months, and being more of a den mother to the Divas. The easiest way to do that is to cut the egos of the Bellas down to size.

Brie & Nikki Bella are the women's answer to Michael "The Miz" Mizanin, whose primadonna antics, renewed because of a recent run of movie & TV gigs, are just as tired, because it rehashes what he's done before. The Bellas are playing LayCool's old high school mean girls act to the hilt, and, trust me, that is old. TNA broke up the Beautiful People--again--with Velvet Sky's recent departure. That should send a message that it's past time to change the way some women are presented. The juvenile drama queen stuff has to go, as it has no place in the wrestling business in 2015. Good or bad, the women should be creating positive images for young girls who aspire to enter the business. They can't do it if Uncreative doesn't give them more than 2-3 minutes per match.

The way I look at it, AJ Lee should be the wrestling equivalent of Taylor Swift right now, as opposed to the Bellas being the Kardashian sisters, which is ironic since they're on the same channel on Sundays. AJ should be past her psycho phase, just like Victoria & Mickie James before her. Of course, the big diff between AJ and T-Swizzle is that AJ is married, but that doesn't fit into the analogical equation here. John Cena should be taking Nikki aside and telling her, point blank, to cool it down, or, if he really wants to send a message, serve her dog food for dinner. I think you get the joke, and if you don't, I'm not going to explain it to you.

If they really need someone to police the divas, well, Victoria's available. Ya gotta hope Stephanie has her on speed dial.
