John Cena comes out and says 2011 didn't exactly end the way he wanted, but he wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and says he has some changes in store. He says he will wear less underwear and he banned his father from WWE TV, and his last resolution is to win at Wrestlemania and prove he doesn't have lady parts. Cena says the one thing that won't change is that he will stick to his guns and he won't back down from anyone, and the fans have earned the right to cheer or boo whoever they want. He says he was really disappointed in Kane, and they should really settle the score by having a match, but Kane wants to attack him and get Cena to turn his back on the fans.
Cena says it won't happen tonight or any night because there is no better feeling than performing for the fans and he will take any response he gets. He says he should start the year by thanking all of them for himself and everyone else, but Kane's music cuts him off before he can continue. Kane is heard over the arena speakers and he tells Cena he will experience the power of hate tonight, then laughs hysterically as Cena looks around for him then the ringpost pyro explodes and scares him.

He tries to whip Bryan into the corner but he gets his foot up and turns around and hits a crossbody drop, but Cody comes back with a drop down punch. Bryan throws him outside then hits a diving clothesline on the floor before rolling Cody back inside, then he goes up top but misses a dropkick and Cody hits Beautiful Disaster for two. They get back up and Cody goes to lock up but Bryan surprises him with a rollup then runs around and celebrates on the announcer's table and barricade.

John Laurinaitis is shown texting someone when Miz comes in and asks him what he is going to do about R-Truth attacking him, but all John says is he doesn't think it is professional. Miz says he needs to do something else because he is a sitting duck, then shows a clip of Miz attacking Truth and asks if it rings a bell. Miz plays dumb and says he doesn't know what that's about, then John says he will make sure Miz is protected during his match tonight. He tells Miz he will face Sheamus tonight and a sitting duck is better than a lame one, then Miz walks off complaining to himself when Truth comes into the picture and flaps his arms and starts quacking.
Wade Barrett comes out and says he would have asked how their new year is, but he doesn't care about this one and he is having a great start because Randy Orton is nowhere to be found. Wade says he didn't plan to throw Orton down the stairs but things happen when you get in the way of the Barrett Barrage and he is moving on to bigger things like winning the 2012 Royal Rumble. Santino Marella comes out and does laps around the ring then gets in and says he lasted longer than Wade did in last year's Rumble. Santino says the same thing will happen this year because the Santino Express will stop the Barrett Barrage, then makes train noises as they bell rings.

Punk goes for a suplex and Dolph slides out then hits a legdrop bulldog for two, then follows it with a corner splash and an inverted powerslam. He gets another near fall and goes for a Zig Zag, but Punk holds on to the turnbuckle and pushes Dolph off of him and drops the turnbuckle pad. Punk hits a corner knee and bulldog and goes for a GTS, but John Laurinaitis comes out and tells the ref about the turnbuckle pad. He puts Dolph in the Anaconda Vice and gets him to tap, but the ref is distracted and Dolph gets up and shoves Punk into John. Punk ducks a Zig Zag attempt and goes for a GTS, but John gets back up on the apron so Punk drops Dolph and goes back over.
Dolph shoves Punk back towards John and this time John drops down and pulls the top rope and Punk falls out to the floor while John gets out of the way. Punk struggles to get back into the ring but the ref counts him out and he gets back in the ring as John heads backstage and Dolph runs around ringside celebrating. John says his problems are with Dolph Ziggler and tells him to watch his tone and informs Punk that Dolph will get a rematch at the Royal Rumble. He also says he will be the special guest referee, and Punk tells him he better not screw him over again, because this time he might get sued and end up in jail for animal cruelty, because he is going to beat John like a bitch.
A final "It Begins" video is shown with the boy talking about returning, and says 'she' has spoken so the end of the world is now... We go live to the arena and everything is shaking then the lights go off and a silhouette of a coat lights up before pyro explodes.
