1. Sheamus def. The Miz.
2. Jack Swagger & Dolph Ziggler def. Kofi Kingston & R-Truth when Ziggler pinned Kingston following a thumb to the eye and a Zig Zag.
3. Great Khali def. Drew McIntyre.
4. Big Show NC Mark Henry.
5. David Otunga def. Ezekiel Jackson.
6. Non-title: Daniel Bryan & CM Punk fought to a draw due to a double-pin.
We open with Daniel Bryan & AJ Lee. AJ doesn't say anything at all. Bryan talks about how people didn't believe him when he said he'd main event Wrestlemania after winning Money in the Bank. Well, the truth is he actually said he'd cash in the briefcase at Mania, but we all know how that turned out.
The Miz comes out. More lies. Miz, who abused Bryan on NXT 2 years ago, claims he knew all along Bryan had the skills to become a world champ, and tries to take credit. Oh, sure. Birds of a feather, and all that. Sheamus comes out, and we get our opener.......
1. Sheamus vs. The Miz.
Pretty even opener for two guys going in opposite directions. Sheamus blocked the Skull Crushing Finale, but missed the Brogue Kick. However, he recovers and hits the Celtic Cross (Emerald Frosien) for the win. Winner: Sheamus.
2. R-Truth & Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger & Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero).
After beating the tag champs, Epico & Primo, on Raw, Truth & Kofi now deal with Team Guerrero. Odd scene late as Swagger is sent to the floor. Vickie must've slipped, as she fell and whined. Ziggler with a thumb to the eye (unnecessary) on Kofi to set up the Zig Zag. Winners: Jack Swagger & Dolph Ziggler.
Backstage, Santino Marella is using his cobra glove, treating it like it's a real snake (well, it makes a good hand puppet, actually) and knocking down plastic cups, set up face down on a table. Heath Slater comes along and clears the table. Santino has a water dispenser under the glove, so this time it's a spitting cobra. Alas, there will not be a match for these two, probably until Monday.........
3. Great Khali vs. Drew McIntyre.
Squash. Drew didn't want this match, and was treated like a jobber. Brain chop, Punjabi Plunge, goodnight. Winner: Great Khali.
4. Mark Henry vs. Big Show.
One of 2011's better feuds continues here, thanks to a backstage KO on Friday. As you might expect, this was an even match, but Cody Rhodes, who screwed Show last night, is out, and plays clips from Show's sumo match with Akebono at Wrestlemania 21. I guess we can figure Show will face Cody instead of Shaq. Henry hit a bodyslam, miscalled as the World's Strongest Slam, and a 747, but gets only 2. Tired of Cody's antics, Show KOs Henry and chases Cody away. The ref doesn't bother to count. No Contest.
Earlier, John Laurinaitis & David Otunga barged in on Teddy Long & Aksana, with Ace finding the affair "unprofessional". Otunga vs. Ezekiel Jackson is rematched for tonight.
5. David Otunga vs. Ezekiel Jackson.
This time, the GM's only go as far as the stage. Teddy did his funky dance, so Laurinaitis clumsily tried to copy. Funny. Zeke actually got to use the torture rack, but Otunga escaped, hot-shotted Jackson, and hit the Verdict (spinebuster) for the win. Winner: David Otunga.
If they do have Team Laurinaitis vs. Team Long at Mania, expect Otunga to be the team captain.
CM Punk interview. He put over Long as a better GM (DUH!), got in a dig on Laurinaitis, as per normal, and put over again the fact that he's known Daniel Bryan for a number of years. He reiterated Big Show's argument from last month, saying the title's gone to Bryan's head, but he will teach Bryan how to lose.......
6. Non-title: CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan.
AJ Lee stayed behind this time. If we're lucky, she'll come to her senses soon enough. Aksana's a better fit for Bryan right now, anyway. Rematch from a recent Raw, but this time, there's no Chris Jericho to spoil the party.
As was the case last time, Bryan worked on the left arm of Punk, which the WWE champ sold the rest of the match. Bryan at one point decided he was leaving. Sheamus came back out and threw Bryan back in. That tactic was used by Big Show just two weeks ago, and cost Randy Orton a match vs. Bryan. This time, Punk hits the savate kick to the head, and gets a pin, but Laurinaitis is back out, and voids the fall, ordering a restart.
After a break, Bryan rolls up Punk and grabs the ropes. Long is back out, and he voids that fall, so we have a 3rd fall. Very odd that each GM is not supporting their own champion. After three tries, Bryan hits a superplex, in each case after preventing Punk from trying the Macho Man elbow off the top. After the superplex, however, Punk cradles Bryan, and ref Scott Armstrong counts the fall.
But who won? Each GM thinks the opposite champion won. Punk is understandably confused. Long raises his hand. Laurinaitis raises Bryan's hand. There's a war of words and finger pointing. Both GM's remove their jackets, and Long, 60-something and spry, throws his at Laurinaitis, who throws it right back. Long simply walks out.
The call, obviously, is a draw, but it was not announced on air. To be continued on Monday. Expect an odd combination of Punk & Sheamus vs. Jericho & Bryan in a tag between now & Wrestlemania.
