ROH has announced both of their New Japan co-produced events in May will now be on live iPPV. Previously the 5/17 event was going to be but there were no plans yet for 5/10. On Demand replays will be available on ROH’s Ustream channel immediately after the events. Both will be 7:30 PM ET start times and each event will cost $14.95.
Additionally, ROH & New Japan will hold a first-ever joint tryout/seminar on 5/13 & 5/14 at the ROH dojo in Easton, PA. There will be 2 separate seminars, one each day, each lasts 5 hours and costs $250.
Eligibility requirements for participating are as follows:
- Each is limited to 26 participants, selected by ROH officials.
- To participate, you must be a current experienced pro wrestler (no rookies, must have at least 1 year experience). No managers, referees, etc.
- The enrollment deadline is May 1 and notifications are sent out within 5 business days, if selected you must pay by May 6. You can only participate in one day, not both.
Among the announced talent/superstars who will be observing and grading talent at the seminars are New Japan referee/international talent agent Tiger Hattori, New Japan stars Jado & Gedo (who are also billed as matchmakers for NJPW), Shinsuke Nakamura and Jushin Liger.
Those who do really well have a chance to be considered for future opportunities in New Japan, and at least one wrestler each day is guaranteed a spot on a future ROH event.
- Finally, there will be an IWGP Heavyweight Championship match at the 5/17 ROH/NJPW event. Whoever is champion at that time will defend against the winner of Kevin Steen-Michael Elgin in ROH on 4/4.
