WHAT ALL WRESTLERS NEED TO DO? A MUST READ!
"The Franchise Speaks His Mind" Written by: The Franchise on 6/28/2007

It's the right place, and certainly the right time. I highly doubt any actual wrestler will read my blog, but if you are very friendly with one, I would suggest passing a long the info. I cannot affect change. In the grand scheme of things, I am a nobody. I have heard rumors about Konnan wanting for years to have the wrestlers unionize. Now is the time. It might sound like an easy thing to do, but in reality, it's going to be an almost impossible project. A week ago I would have said it's impossible. But for there to come any good out of this tragedy, the workers themselves need to form a union. Why? Because someone in a very high place is going to have to suffer for the betterment of the business, much like Jackie Robinson and Curt Flood in baseball had to suffer to affect change within baseball.
In order for a union to work, there needs to be solidarity among all wrestlers themselves. Political issues between wrestlers would need to be cast aside (even if its just temporary). There would absolutely need to be a united front to get this off the ground. That is only the start.
Somebody big (and I dont mean Khali big) would need to step up as a true leader. Triple H is married into the wrestling business, so you know that isn't ever going to happen. Heck, at the end of the day, he's a McMahon (and I actually love watching the guy work). I know of the perfect person, and his name is John Cena. Ok, follow me on this. Forget about John Cena the wrestler for a moment and your love or hate of him, because fans would need to unite as well for some time. I'm talking about John Cena, the human being. Vince McMahon wants John Cena to be the top guy in the company for years to come. At any other point in time, it would not work because the talent would be too deep and he would just be replaced with someone else. But there are severe talent issues when it comes to top talent within the WWE infrastructure, and the wrestling business as a whole. There are not too many guys who could actually work on top right now and be able to pull it off. Heck, they are trying to push Lashley as that guy, and you can tell he isn't ready. But I digress. Cena would need to be the leader at some point of this movement. The negative of this? It would most likely cost him a ton of money, quite possibly his career and could even take years off his life. Jackie Robinson suffered severly for the color barrier to be broken. Curt Flood lost his playing career for free agency. It is more than likely Cena would suffer some sort of similar fate. The question becomes this - is John Cena ready to become a historical figure in regards to sweeping change within the business? Are all wrestlers, for the betterment of their craft for generations to come? It's a big question mark. At any other time, it simply could not work. Heck, even at this point, the odds on it working aren't great. But it finally could, and could mean great things for professional wrestlers, the people WE pay to see!
I have been angry for days about this whole situation. Something needs to be done within the industry to help the guys who actually put our asses in the seats to begin with. If you want to see a better life for a professional wrestler, I suggest spreading the word. Get this reposted anywhere you can. If you know a pro wrestler, send this to them. Like I said earlier, I cannot do anything except write this story and turn the light on. From there, it's up to the entire wrestling community. Fans and workers alike need to unite in this. I care enough about the guys who I actually pay to see to write this. Do enough of you care about them to get the word out?

Mike
