Well, there is a lot to talk about so lets get right to it. Northeast Wrestling presented March Mayhem from Torrington, CT this past Saturday - and this show was phenomenal! Crowd was close to 1,200 people with a few hundred that had to be turned away at the door! This is why I always tell people to reserve their tickets in advance, cause if you travel for a show (we drove about two hours for this one) you don't want to get shut out when you get there. Here is a quick match rundown:
Romeo Roselli vs. Jason Blade - Great way to open this show. Roselli does such a fantastic job at getting heat, and they worked very well together. This was The N.E.W. debut of Blade, and I was impressed and hope to see him at future shows! Roselli won the match, but both wrestlers did great work here and got the party started right!
Talia Madison & Short Sleeve Sampson vs. Ariel & Kurt Adonis - I am becoming a bigger fan of Kurt Adonis every time I see him perform. This was a mixed tag team match that also involed a midget wrestler (Sampson), so I didn't know what to expect from it, but by the time it was over, I absolutely loved it! Sampson got the pinfall on Adonis. The crowd was really into this match as well.
"The Rocket" Fred Curry Jr. vs. Michael Sane - Curry won the match with a roll-up, then Sane proceeded to ram his head into a post with a steel chair wrapped around it! Curry had to be taken away on a stretcher, and I hope he is okay. There wasn't a lot of reaction to this match, but I like Curry and Sane in his second match for NEW is really good.
Jay Lethal vs. Josh Daniels - Try as I might, I was the only one in attendence rooting for Daniels, and it was me against about 800 people! These two put on the best pure wrestling performance of the night (as they usually do), with many near falls. Lethal finally got the win in what was another classic match!
Ron Zombie vs. The Texas Outlaw - Unfortunately, I didn't see a good portion of this match, but I know it was a brawl. Zombie eventually put Outlaw through a table to secure the victory.
Samoa Joe vs. Xavier - You would think the night before a big PPV that Samoa Joe might not give you everything he has, but you would be wrong. This was a stiff looking match and Joe is fabulous in the ring. Xavier always is a top notch performer. Samoa Joe won (which we all though initially was for the title), but the first ref, who had been knocked out by Xavier, changed the decision and gave
Joe the win via DQ.
Jerry Lawler & Jim Neidhart vs. Sex & Violence (with Big Daddy) - A great way to end the show with Jerry & Jim getting the victory. Big Daddy is a really, really good manager, and he reminds me a lot of the old days where managers did the things he does. He is great at getting the crowd to hate him and his wrestlers.
Oh, yeah - I almost forgot about the big announcement - KURT ANGLE IS COMING TO NORTHEAST WRESTLING! Sunday, April 22nd in Bristol, CT, Kurt Angle will be making his NEW debut! I can't wait!
There is an upcoming show this Friday night in Danbury, CT - and its a show you don't want to miss! There is a triple main event booked for the show:
Xavier will be defending the NEW Title against Jay Lethal in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match!
Samoa Joe will be taking on A.J. Styles!
and Jerry "The King" Lawler will be wrestling none other than - "The Coach" Jonathan Coachman (and, c'mon - who doesn't want to see "The Coach" get his ass kicked?)
