My latest interview is a great one. I had the chance to speak with Jason Blade, who is one of the brightest young stars on the independent circuit. A current co-holder of the Chaotic Wrestling Tam Team Titles (with Kid Mikaze), here is what Blade had to say:
#1) Mr. Blade, thanks for taking the time out of your schedule to do this interview with me. My first question to you is how did you get started in the wrestling business? Who trained you?
Wrestling is my passion in life. Ever since I started watching it in 1989. It's all I ever wanted to do. I wrestled for 8 years amateur wrestling. Loved everything about it. Went undefeated my first year winning states. Which was a great accomplishment. I started my professional wrestling career in 2000.
I began my career with Yankee Pro Wrestling which is now better known as Top Rope Promotions. My first 2 years of training was under Brickhouse Baker. I left YPW in 02 and wanted to branch out from what I became comfortable with. It was once said to me in order to learn you must surround yourself with people who are smarter then you. So, That's what I did and continue to do to this day.
#2) You have wrestled all over the northeast. What do you think of the overall independent scene when it comes to the northeast? Do you have any favorite people to work with?
~I feel as if the northeast region of wrestling has become stronger over the past few years. There's a lot of talented guy's in this area, Some you may have heard of and some you've probably yet to hear about. You mentioned if I had any favorites? A few do come to mind. "Hurricane" John Walters, "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards, "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, "Straight Edge" Brian Fury, Kid Mikaze. To be honest, there are too many to list.
#3) You recently made your debut for Northeast Wrestling taking on Romeo Roselli in an impressive debut. Are there any other wrestlers in NEW that you would like to face? Do you have any plans on eventually challenging Xavier for the title?
NEW has a tremendously talented locker room. Jay Lethal, Josh Daniels, Antonio Thomas/Romeo Roselli, Michael Sain. There isn't a single person on that list I wouldn't like to step into a ring with.
As for the NEW heavyweight champion Xavier... Xavier and I have had history which started in the summer of 06. Last time I read the score cards read 2-1 in favor of Jason Blade. So, After I prove myself as one of the top competitors in NEW. Then, Yes I would like to get an opportunity at Xavier!
#4) What are your interests outside of the business? I did notice on your myspace page that you are also a chef. Do you enjoy that as well?
I've been in the Restaurant business for 7 years now. Five of those years being a chef. I do enjoy cooking. Much like in wrestling, It allows me to be creative. Coming up with new things. New recipes. New menu's etc... Not to mention.. It works wonders when the ladies find out you can cook!! :)!!
#5) Finally, is there anything else you would like to let us know about wrestling or you in general?
Be prepared to hear a lot about Jason Blade in 2007. Because, I'm going to continue busting my ass. In every way imaginable in order to reach my goal(s) in life.
