Who will win at Judgment Day?
"That's My Story And I'm Sticking To It" Written by: Dr. Wrestling on 5/13/2008

This week for That's My Story and I'm Sticking To It I'll be telling you who I think the winners will be at Judgment Day.

I consider this PPV to be very similar to Backlash because it isn't exactly a "must see" show and part of the reason for that is there's only been three weeks of build up leading to the show. Let's hope that's the only similarity to Backlash because if you watched the show three weeks ago you know it was a terrible PPV with the U.S. title being the only decent match on the card. I'm not trying to bury Judgment Day here but all things considered I don't really see any reason to justify the $40 price tag to watch the show. Now, let's discuss some of the winners.

Chris Jericho v.s. Shawn Micheals atleast at this point is not for the IC title but I think it has the potential to be the match of the night and if you've seen their match from Wrestlemania a few years ago, you know these two great wrestlers can have a great match when their in the ring. Judging by the crowd reaction on Raw and the presentation of the storyline itself it doesn't seem like HBK will be turning heel, atleast not yet but at this point in his career I wouldn't expect HBK to turn heel. The basis of the storyline is HBK has outsmarted Batista and Jericho so I wouldn't be surprised if Jericho bent the rules to get a victory at Judgment Day. That's why I'll pick Jericho to get the win and it will be interesting to see which direction the storyline goes in terms of any type of heel turn for HBK or Jericho. If someone turns heel during this feud I would think it would be Jericho considering that his return fell flat when he was rushed into the title picture and then rushed out of it equally as quick so a heel turn could rejuvenate his character. That being said, Jericho has proved to be a great heel in the past so if he were to turn heel I think it would only add more to the feud.

As I've said on numerous occasions, you can't expect too much in the ring from JBL, which would explain his various brawls that he's been involved in the past few months in matches with Finlay and Jericho. That being said, I would expect his match with John Cena to be another brawl and when you take into account their match at Judgment Day a few years ago, this match actually has some potential to be atleast an okay match. From a storyline stand point there hasn't really been much of a build up for the match other then this past week on Raw because Cena hasn't appeared on Raw for the past two weeks. I could see this feud continuing for atleast another PPV match and it's tough to pick a winner but I will pick JBL. That's not a solid prediction but just a guess for the match.

The Women's title match should be a good match and as I've said many times the WWE women's division is really solid with alot of great matches from all the competitors in the women's division. I'll pick Mickie James to retain the title since she just won it back a few weeks ago and I would think the WWE will give her a solid run with the title. After Mickie has the title for a few months I would expect Beth Phoenix to retain the title but it will be interesting to see who is the Women's champion after Judgment Day.

The WWE tag team titles will be on the line when The Miz and John Morrison defend the titles against the ECW champion, Kane and CM Punk. I will predict that Kane and CM Punk win the titles for a few different reasons. The title picture in ECW is basically non existent and how many times can Kane defeat Chavo before it gets stale? Since Kane isn't doing anything with the ECW title if he was given the tag titles it would renew his purpose in ECW and also continue to push him as the ECW champion. Being a WWE tag champion would also keep CM Punk busy until the WWE creative team gets an idea for him to cash in the money in the bank title shot so I think it's definitely possible that Kane and CM Punk could win the WWE tag team titles at Judgment Day.

The Undertaker v.s. Edge for the World Heavy Weight title. How many times has this match happened in one form or another? I was there live in Pittsburgh last year when Edge cashed in the money in the bank title shot to win the title and I was also there live when Edge won the title in Pittsburgh when Edge won the title a few months ago at Armageddon. Don't forget the Wrestlemania match and then the rematch just three weeks ago at Backlash. Now there's another rematch at judgment for the "vacant" title but let's be honest here, the vacant title storyline is a lame attempt from the WWE to try to get more mileage out of a feud that should have probably concluded at Wrestlemania. In the WWE's defense, they don't have much of a choice for a Smackdown main event because the show is so low on star power and the world title match at Judgment Day is probably the best match they could book for a smackdown main event for a PPV. I think it's obvious that The Undertaker will win the match and the title. There have been rumors on the internet for months that reported that Umaga would be going to Smackdown so it seems like an Umaga/Undertaker feud will be the main event feud on Smackdown.

The WWE title match is Triple H v.s. Randy Orton in a steel cage for the WWE title and even though it will probably be the main event of the show I could careless about this match. This is another one of those "How many times has this match been done?" Triple H and Orton feuded for the world title in 2004 and then they had titles matches at No mercy last year and then the match at Wrestlemania plus the match they were both involved in at Backlash. If you've read any of my other columns that mentioned Triple H you know that I don't think he should main event every Wrestlemania or be push as much he is so I won't explain all that again but I will say that no matter how many times the WWE has Triple H win the title in a lame attempt to copy Ric Flair legacy, Triple H WILL NEVER be on the same level as Ric Flair. I'm not a fan of Randy Orton and I think he's over ratted but he's decent in the ring. It's obvious that Triple H will retain the title and continue to get a major push on Raw.

Overall I think Judgment Day will be an okay PPV.

Until next week
