Who will win at One Night Stand?

This week for That's My Story and I'm Sticking To It I'll be telling you who I think the winners will be at One Night Stand. There's a few things I want to mentioning before discussing the matches on the card for the PPV. One of them being that Judgment Day was just two weeks ago and when you consider that Backlash was just three weeks before that, there's been three PPVs in the span of just five weeks, which is obviously too many both from a storyline stand point as well as a financial stand point as many people can't afford a $40 price tag every few weeks. That being said, I don't really see the logical reason to have another PPV this soon. Even the WWE knows it's not logical to have another PPV so soon because the sell point for One Night Stand is based on all gimmick matches. I mean have the feuds built up in two weeks? Will people want to pay another $40 for the same main event matches they saw just two weeks ago? Do the storylines justify a spot on a PPV? I think it's safe to say that the answer to all those questions is probably no. I just don't understand how the WWE could possibly expect a good buy rate for the show because of all the reasons previously mentioned but I'm sure Vince will make money on the show so I guess that's all the WWE is really concerned about and I guess that's all they should be concerned about considering that's why they are in business, to make money. More PPVs obviously equals more possible revenue for the WWE but I've said for years that having so many PPVs hurts the quality of the storylines and also the importance of a PPV itself. I mean really, only a few PPVs have that "big show" feel to it and even less have the "must see" factor with it. It seems as though it's "another PPV this weekend" instead of fans actually looking forward to what's supposed to be a show that people want to pay $40 just to see. I'm not trying to bury the WWE's efforts here but it just seems like they are more focused on producing as many PPVs as possible rather then having a better quality show so that the viewing audience, who paid their hard earned money get their money's worth. Okay, now that I've ranted about the PPV industry, let's predict some winners. Melina/Beth Phoenix in an I Quit match seems to be the sleeper match on the card but that really isn't a negative thing because it give them the opportunity to steal the show, which i believe is quite possible considering how strong the Women's division has been and currently is on Raw. Melina has been making a face turn in recent weeks on Raw but hopefully the WWE still gives her character somewhat of an edge to it because that's what made her heel character so successful since her debut in the WWE. With Melina becoming a face and with Mickie as a face champion, I have to pick Beth Phoenix as being the winner for the I Quit match. I say this because a brutal victory for Phoenix could keep her established as a legitimate threat to the Women's title even after being pinned a few weeks ago by Mickie James. Hopefully there will be more Mickie/Phoenix matches for the title in the future because they are arguably the two best women wrestlers on the WWE roster. I don't really care for the Singapore Cane match because there's five wrestlers in the match so you can't really expect a well paced match and the winner is also fairly obvious. although anything is possible. The winner of the match is the number one contender for the ECW title and when you take into account the competitors in the match, you can eliminate some of the possibilities for who will be getting a shot at the ECW championship. Chavo Guerrero had his time as a transitional champion and I don't think anyone wants to see him back in the title picture so he probably won't be winning the match. CM Punk has a money in the bank title shot so there's no real reason to have him win a title shot when he can cash in for a title shot at anytime. It would be cool to see Tommy Dreamer in the title picture but we all know his role during his entire run in the new ECW has been a glorified jobber so I don't expect him to get a victory at One Night Stand. John Morrison winning is possible but he is one half of the WWE tag champions so he will probably stay in the tag division atleast for the moment. The Big Show is really the only one in the match that I think has a real chance as being booked as the winner and that's why I predict he will get the victory. The Big Show has been getting a push since his return and it would make sense to put him into the title picture but considering his run as the ECW champion was a total flop, I hope Kane will remain the champion for atleast a few more months. The Jeff Hardy/Umaga falls count anywhere match should be a good if not a great match. These two had some really great chemistry in the ring during their feud and past matches on Raw so it wouldn't be a surprise to see a great match from them at the PPV. Hardy recently returned from a sixty day suspension, which took him out of the money in the bank ladder match at Wrestlemania and obviously the WWE was forced to change their booking plans because of that so I think it will take some time for Hardy to prove himself again before the WWE is willing to make another major investment in him. It's for that reason that I will pick Umaga to win the match at One Night Stand and with the WWE draft in a month I wouldn't be surprised to see Umaga moved to Smackdown to be given a main event spot on the show. The HBK/Batista saga continues as this time they will face off in a Stretcher match and I'm interested to see how the finish of this match happens. I'm thinking that Micheals will lose the match and suffer an "injury" during the match to reverse the storyline that he really is hurt thus making Batista look like a heel for actually hurting HBK. I apologize if that sounds confusing but I think it would be a good twist on the storyline and it would be a way for the storyline to continue, which has been good since it started. HBK has won all of the matches involved with the storyline so far, which makes it almost necessary for Batista to get a victory to justify the storyline continuing and as I said before it will before it will be interesting to see if anyone actually turns heel during the course of this feud. The bottom line of all the rambling is that Batista gets the victory in the Stretcher match. It's tough to pick a winner for the first blood match but because I expect Cena to be back in the main event picture soon, I will pick Cena to win the match. That's nothing more then a guess though because with JBL losing at Judgment Day it would also make sense for him to get a win, which would give the feud an opportunity to continue. If JBL does win the match I don't think it will be a clean win but no matter who wins the match I expect it to be brutal. Anyone else tired of seeing Triple H and Randy Orton wrestle each other? How many times have they wrestled each other? This will probably be the main event of the show but I could careless about it. It's obvious that Triple H will retain the title so there's not really too much to say about the match but let's just hope that Triple H v.s. Randy Orton isn't the main event of the next WWE PPV. The World Heavy Weight title match is a tough one to pick a winner for but I have to say it's really lame that the WWE has recycled part of a storyline to use again for One Night Stand. That being the "Edge's opponent has never been in a TLC match" storyline, which has been used during Edge's feud with John Cena and for a match against Flair on Raw a few years ago. Aside from the storyline, it seems as though the result of the match will have a major impact on both stars' future in the WWE. If Edge loses he will have lost in World title matches four PPVs in a row so that will basically bring any momentum he has as a top heel to a halt but the stipulation for the match is if The Undertaker loses, he will leave the WWE so does that mean this could indicate The Undertaker will be retiring? I doubt it because with a legend such as The Undertaker the WWE could draw alot of money with a retirement storyline, similar to what they did with Flair. Since I don't expect The Undertaker to be retiring anytime soon I will predict that he will win the title at One Night Stand. As for Edge, I wouldn't be too surprised if he went to Raw during the upcoming draft because there's really not much more he can do on Smackdown considering the WWE has gotten alot of mileage from the Edge/Undertaker feud. Overall I think One Night Stand will be a good PPV because there's some potential for some good action with the gimmick matches but as I said there really isn't a logical reason to have another PPV just two weeks after Judgment Day.
