Who will win at Summer Slam?
"That's My Story And I'm Sticking To It" Written by: Dr. Wrestling on 8/22/2007

This week for That's My Story and I'm Sticking To It I'll be telling who I think the winners will be at Summer Slam.

It was announced on Raw that there will be a Diva battle royal and the winner will get a shot at the Women's title. It will include divas from all three brands and even though there are many possible winners for the match I'll pick Beth Phoenix to win the match. Phoenix recently returns to Raw and has been getting some what of a push. Melina was already involved in a feud for the women's title so it would seem like if Phoenix would get a shot at the title there could be a new feud in the women's division on Raw. If Phoenix were to win the match I think a Candice Michelle/Phoenix feud could be a good feud because Candice Michelle has improved in the ring and Beth Phoenix has shown some wrestling ability. Mickie James is probably has the most in ring skill of the divas on Raw and it's possible she could be back in the title picture.

After a less then great match on Raw let's hope Carlito and Kennedy have a better match at the PPV when it will be a triple threat match for the IC title. Umaga is the current champion and it seems like the WWE has turned Umaga into a face but it will be interesting to see if the the turns gets over with the crowd considering that Umaga has been a heel since he debuted in the WWE. I think the face turn could get over with the crowd if the WWE can continue to use Umaga to attack the heels that can get heat from the crowd. If he's attacking a heel the crowd doesn't care about then I doubt an Umaga face turn will get over but if the WWE continues to have him attack heels that can get heat from the crowd then I think the Umaga face turn could work. Estrada could have helped get the face turn over if he would have returned as Umaga's manager again but he returned as the general manager of ECW. I think Estrada should have returned as Umaga's manager but I think he can add alot to ECW. I'll pick Mr. Kennedy to win the IC title and there's a few different reasons why I think he will win the title. Kennedy is probably the most over heel on Raw and as I've said many times in the past I think Kennedy is a future world champion. It's also been reported on internet sites that Kennedy will be the mystery link of the Mcmahon family so that storyline along with an IC title win could give Kennedy a major push, which I think is long overdue considering that despite taking time off due to injuries Kennedy is still over with the crowd. After making him job in countless title matches against Lashley and Batista it finally seems like the WWE will give Kennedy the solid push he deserves. If Kennedy does get a solid push on Raw it will be interesting to see how he will be used in the main event picture of Raw.

The ECW title match has the potential to be the match of the night but the ECW brand as a whole lacks direction and it seems like the WWE isn't really doing that much to improve the brand overall considering the show consist of mostly squash matches. How many times is Tommy Dreamer going to job on the ECW T.V. show? As far as who will win the match at Summer Slam it's tough to pick a winner because both CM Punk and John Morrison have been getting a push but I'll pick Punk to win the title. The WWE has had Punk chase the title for a few months and it might be a good decision to have Punk win the title at Summer Slam but I think the Punk/Morrison feud will continue after the PPV because ECW lacks legitimate contenders for the title.

The Rey/Chavo match could be a good match but you would think that Rey would be wrestling an opponent with alittle bit more star power for his return match. I know that the match is based on Chavo "injuring" Rey but the Rey/Chavo feud got more mileage out of it then it probably should and hopefully the feud won't pick back up with the WWE disrespecting Eddie Guerrero again. I'll pick Rey to win the match since it's his return match and with Smackdown lacking main eventers it will be interesting to see if Rey will be in the main event picture on Smackdown in the next few months. There hasn't been much of a reason to watch Smackdown recently but I think Rey returning will improve the show.

I don't expect the World Heavy Weight title match to be anything worth watching and let's hope the WWE keeps the match short because with these two wrestlers in the ring it seems like the match will be terrible. The reason I say this is because both Batista and Khali need a good opponent to help carry them to a good match. If they are in the ring with someone that can carry them the matches are atleast okay and I know some people will say that Batista has improved but I think that's more of who he was in the ring with then his own wrestling ability. The Undertaker and Edge obviously helped improve Batista's matches during the feuds. As for a winner, it's another tough one to pick a winner because I don't think any result of this match will help Smackdown. I'll pick Khali to retain the title but that's more of a guess then a solid prediction.

The Triple H/King Booker match should be a good match and it's obvious that Triple H is going to win the match. I've said before that I think Triple H has done too much on Raw and he has used his backstage power to keep the title when he probably should have dropped the title. I know alot of Triple H fans will disagree with what I'm saying here but if you think about it when Triple H wasn't the champion it actually improved Raw because it let some of the other stars get the spot light. It made for a better show overall because DX added more star power to the show and the Cena/Edge feud was a solid main event feud. There's no doubt Triple H is a main event level wrestler but what is there left for him to do? He's a ten time champion and he's main evented more Wrestlemanias then probably anyone else currently on the WWE roster so why have Triple H dominate the main event picture on Raw when there's other wrestlers that could be in the main event picture? Let's be honest here we all know that Triple H will have his spot in the main event of Wrestlemania because he's a part of the Mcmahon family tree and it will be interesting to see who Triple H wrestles at Wrestlemania.

The WWE title match is another match that it's tough to pick a winner and it should be a good match that keeps the fans guessing who will win because it would make sense for either wrestler to win the match. It's been reported on internet sites that Triple H wants Orton to win the title to set up a match at Wrestlemania but the WWE could have Cena retain the title and keep the title for a few months. I'll pick Cena to retain the title because at this point I don't think Orton has the credibility to be considered a legitimate champion. If Cena does retain he will probably make it atleast a year as champion and even though many fans have criticized Cena as a champion even the most critical fans have to give Cena credit for the solid main event matches he's had this year. The feud with Umaga was atleast an okay feud, the matches with Shawn Micheals were probably the best matches there have been in the WWE this year, the feud with Khali was better then anyone could have really expected, and the match against Lashley at The Great American Bash was a good match so there's really no question that Cena has proved he is a legitimate champion.

Overall I think Summer Slam will be a good PPV.

Until next week
