Who will win at Unforgiven?
"That's My Story And I'm Sticking To It" Written by: Dr. Wrestling on 9/14/2007

This week for That's My Story and I'm Sticking To It I'll be telling you who I think the winners will be at Unforgiven.

Before I discuss some predictions for the PPV I think it's worth noting that most of the matches really don't have much of a build up and that Summer Slam was just three weeks ago so there wasn't really that much time for the WWE to build up to the matches at Unforgiven.

The World Tag Team title match could be an okay match and you might have read about the recent title switches during house shows. Despite the switches at house shows I think that Cade and Murdoch will retain the titles. Paul London and Brian Kendrick are both amazing aerial wrestlers that don't really get a chance to show their ability because of the WWE restrictions of some aerial moves but it's cool that they are in a feud for the tag titles on Raw. I know they were the tag champions on Smackdown but it could be argued that they had the titles for an extended time on Smackdown because until Deuce and Domino debuted London and Kendrick were basically the only legitimate tag team on Smackdown. The London and Kendrick v.s. Cade and Murdoch feud will probably continue after the PPV. I'd expect London and Kendrick to chase the titles for a few months and it's possible they could win the titles.

The WWE Tag Team title match could be an okay match and I think Deuce and Domino will win the titles. The reason I say this is because I'd expect the MVP/Hardy alliance to be short lived and their reign as tag champions is really only being used to further the U.S. title feud. If Deuce and Domino win the tag titles it will be interesting to see what direction the tag division on Smackdown goes because besides The Major Brothers there's no other tag teams on Smackdown. It has been reported on some internet sites that The Highlanders might go to Smackdown and it might be a good decision because if The Highlanders go to Smackdown it could provide more competition in the tag division. A Deuce and Domino v.s. The Highlanders feud for the tag titles could be an entertaining feud. As for the U.S. title it will be interesting to see if Hardy eventually wins the title or if MVP will continue his reign as U.S. champion.

The Women's title match should be a good match and I think Beth Phoenix will win the title. Phoenix has been getting a steady push since she returned to Raw and she won a battle royal at Summer Slam to get a title shot. Even though I think Phoenix will win the title Candice Michelle deserves alot of credit because she's really improved her wrestling ability and she's had a good run as champion. If Phoenix wins the title I think a Beth Phoenix/Mickie James feud could be a good feud to help the Women's division on Raw.

The ECW title match has the potential to be the match of the night but it's obvious that CM Punk will retain the title. This is one of the matches at the PPV that doesn't really have much of a build up because the match was just announced this past week on the ECW but the feud could be one of the better feuds that has been seen in ECW the past few months. Elijah Burke is one of the top young stars in not only ECW but the entire WWE and he has the potential to become a major star. He has the mic skills, charisma, and wrestling ability to be a champion. Both CM Punk and Elijah Burke have a bright future in the WWE and that's why this feud has alot of potential. You have to wonder why Elijah Burke hasn't been given more of a push and it will be interesting to see if he remains in the title picture in ECW.

The Triple H/Carlito match should be a good match but it's another match that the winner is obvious and that's Triple H. Carlito is entertaining and I'd like to see this feud extend beyond just one PPV match but chances are Carlito will just be another stepping stone during Triple H's push back to the top of Raw. As I've said before we all know Triple H will have a spot in the main event of Wrestlemania and it's only a matter of time before he is back in the main event picture of Raw. It will be interesting to see what Carlito does after jobbing to Triple H and with Jeff Hardy as the IC champion a Carlito/Hardy feud for the IC title could be a good feud.

Unforgiven is being built around The Undertaker's return and with that being said I'll pick The Undertaker to win his match. I can't say I think it will be a good match because Mark Henry is in the match and I can't say I've ever really seen a good Mark Henry match. With Smackdown lacking star power The Undertaker's return will no doubt improve the show and as I mentioned when The Undertaker was injured he deserves another title run.

The World Heavy Weight title match will probably be a train wreck and it's a tough one to pick a winner because a few months ago the idea of The Great Khali being the World champion was a joke but now that joke was become a ridiculous reality. I've said it numerous times before that Batista couldn't carry Smackdown before and he probably can't carry Smackdown now. The other challenger, Rey Mysterio made his return just three weeks ago and it's cool to see that Rey is involved in the title picture on Smackdown. Let's be honest here, Rey won the World title last year because of the death of Eddie Guerrero and because the WWE used Eddie Guerrero's name in the storyline it somewhat overshadowed Rey's title run. That being said, Rey definitely has the skill to be a champion and deserves to the the champion so hopefully Rey will get the legitimate title reign he deserves on Smackdown. I'll pick The Great Khali to retain the title but that's a complete guess instead of a solid prediction.

The WWE title match should be a good match and it's another one that it's tough to pick a winner. John Cena has been the WWE champion for almost a year and as I said in the column I wrote about Summer Slam, over the course of the year Cena has proved that he is a legitimate champion. Randy Orton has really shown his ability to be an effective heel during the feud and it's quite possible he could win the title at the PPV. I'll pick John Cena to retain the title but once again that's more of a guess then a solid prediction.

Overall I think Unforgiven will be a good PPV.

Until next week
