Who will win at Armageddon?
"That's My Story And I'm Sticking To It" Written by: Dr. Wrestling on 12/14/2007

This week for That's My Story and I'm Sticking To It I'll be telling you who I think the winners will be at Armageddon.

Before I discuss the PPV I think that it's worth mentioning that I will be attending the PPV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the Mellon Arena and according to the WWE the show is sold out. I didn't really expect the show to sell out but it's not that much of a surprise because when I attended Smackdown at the Mellon Arena earlier this year it seemed like the show was almost sold out so it makes sense that a PPV would sell out. For those that don't know Pittsburgh has some pretty significant wrestling history and it's what some would consider a wrestling city. Bruno Sammartino, "The Franchise" Shane Douglas, and Kurt Angle are all world champions that are from and still live in the Pittsburgh area. Pittsburgh was also one of the original ECW's main cities where there were shows at The Golden Dome and that's where ECW held a November To Remember. WWE pay per view history has been made at the Mellon Arena and it's the site of The Undertaker v.s. Mick Foley Cell match at the King of the Ring, which is one of the most famous matches in pro wrestling history. At Unforgiven in 2001 Kurt Angle defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin for the then WWF title at the Mellon Arena and it's also the venue where the infamous barbed wire cage match when it was The Big Show v.s. JBL at No Way Out in 2005. That being said, it seems like WWE history could be made again in the Steel City at Armageddon.

I expect the Women's title match to be a good match and if you've read some of my previous columns you know that I think a Mickie James/Beth Phoenix feud could be a good feud for the Women's title. These two are probably the two best women wrestlers on the roster right now but that's not to say the rest of the Women's division isn't solid because the current Women's division is probably the most solid it's been in years. Melina, Candice Michelle and others have really put forth some great effort to really improve the Women's division and they have been some great matches the past few months. As for the title match at Armageddon I'll pick Beth Phoenix to retain the title because at this point the Mickie James/Beth Phoenix feud hasn't really built up that much and it seems like the WWE is still pushing Phoenix as champion. As I said though I think it could be a good feud so I think it would be a good decision to have the feud continue after the PPV.

The U.S. title match should be solid and it's obvious that MVP will retain the title. I say this because with Matt Hardy injured and out of action for a few months it seems like the WWE threw this feud together just to give MVP something to do until Hardy returns to the ring. That being said, I don't think a loss will really effect Rey's status on Smackdown because he's a main star on the show and he will probably continue to be one of Smackdown's top stars. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think Rey can still be a legitimate main event star and he could be a legitimate contender for the World Heavy Weight title because Rey has a really solid fan base but with Edge, The Undertaker, and Batista in the title picture it doesn't seem like Rey will be in the main event anytime soon. As for MVP, he really needs something to rejuvenate his title run because it's become somewhat stable but some good matches with Rey could built momentum back up for MVP's title reign, which could help the MVP/Hardy feud when Hardy returns to the ring.

The Great Khali/Finlay match will probably be terrible and it will probably be the time at the show that I'll go to buy a $4 pop because I doubt I will miss anything if I don't see part of this match. Better yet if you plan on watching the show on pay per view from the comfort of your home, a friend's house, or even you're grandma's house this match might be the time to go to the kitchen get some pizza, some wings, and some pop because this match will probably be terrible. Finlay is known as a good technical wrestler but when have you seen a Khali match that wasn't terrible? If you've seen a Khali match that wasn't terrible e mail me and let me know because I don't think there's been a Khali match that wasn't terrible. I'll pick Finlay to win the match but that's just a guess and not really a solid prediction.

The Big V and Mark Henry v.s. CM Punk and Kane match will probably be another terrible match. If you've read some of my other columns you know that I think Big V and Mark Henry are terrible so there's not too much to discuss about the team. I will however, say a few things about the team of CM Punk and Kane. CM Punk deserves alot of credit at this point for making the best he can of his title run because it's more then obvious that the ECW brand as a whole is a joke. I mean seriously, Elijah Burke is on the ECW roster and the best thing the creative team can do for him is have him job to Batista? A side note about Burke is I definitely think he should be back in the ECW title picture because I think he and Punk can have some solid title match. Shelton Benjamin is now on the ECW roster and he's one of the best athletes on any brand in the WWE. He's also one of the most under rated and under used wrestlers in WWE history. Hopefully Shelton will get a push and possibly wrestle for the ECW title because Benjamin v.s. Punk would be a great match. CM Punk's tag partner at Armageddon, Kane is also one of the most under rated in WWE history and as I've said before I think if Kane was given a legitimate push he could be a good World Heavy Weight champion. I'll pick CM Punk and Kane to win the match but again that's more of a guess then a prediction.

The Jeff Hardy v.s. Triple H match should be a really good match and it will be interesting to see if Hardy gets pushed to the main event level because if the WWE is going to push him to the main event it seems as though now would be the time for it. Hardy has been somewhat on the fence as to weather he could be a main event level star but since he's returned to the WWE he's really improved and I think the WWE should push Hardy to the main event level. It's tough to pick a winner for the match but one thing is for sure, even if Hardy wins the number one contender spot Triple H will still be in the main event of Wrestlemania. As I've said numerous times before, there's no doubt Triple H is a great wrestler but that doesn't mean his spot in the main event of Wrestlemania should be reserved just because he's a part of the Mcmahon family tree. Besides that another Triple H/Randy Orton feud for the title would be somewhat stable because the feud has happened twice already including a PPV match a few months ago at No Mercy. If Hardy would win the number one contender spot I doubt he would win the WWE title because he's the IC champion and it wouldn't make too much sense to have Hardy win both belts. I'll pick Hardy to win the match but I don't expect him to win the WWE title at the Royal Rumble.

The Shawn Micheals/Mr. Kennedy...Kennedy match should be a great match and it has the potential to be the match of the night. I've mentioned the skills of both HBK and Kennedy many times so there's really no need to say it again because this match speaks for itself as far as how entertaining it could be at the PPV. I'll pick Mr. Kennedy to win the match and I think it could help give Kennedy a push. The feud has been a really entertaining feud and I think it should continue after the PPV.

The Triple Threat match should be a good match but it's another one that it's tough to pick a winner. I have to say I'd rather see Edge or The Undertaker win the title then see Batista retain it. One of the reasons it's tough to pick a winner is that both Edge and The Undertaker could be solid champions so it's a tough call which direction the WWE will go with Smackdown. I'll pick Edge to win the title and I think it would be cool to see an Edge/Undertaker feud. It seems like that's the direction the WWE is going so it will be interesting to see how the Edge/Undertaker feud develops over the next few weeks. A side note to the match is it will be interesting to see what type of reaction Batista gets from the crowd in Pittsburgh because when the WWE was last in Pittsburgh for Smackdown Batista was booed out of the building but since Smackdown is a taped show and the WWE was able to edit the boos from the crowd. Armageddon is live so the it will be interesting to see if the crowd boos or cheers Batista during the World Heavy Weight title match.

The WWE title match should be a great match but it's another match that it's tough to pick a winner. Some might say it's too early in Jericho's return for him to win the title but it would be a logical decision because the storyline is the point of Jericho's return is to win the WWE title and if Orton defeats him at Armageddon there's really no where for the storyline to go from there. Orton has only had the title for a few months though so him losing the title could really halt his momentum as a main event star. I'll pick Chris Jericho to win the WWE title and I think the feud will continue after the PPV.

Overall I think Armageddon will be a good PPV.

Until next week
