The NWA is the past and TNA is the Future
"That's My Story And I'm Sticking To It" Written by: Dr. Wrestling on 3/09/2007

This week for That’s My Story and I’m Sticking To It I’ll be telling you what I think of TNA becoming it’s own company apart from the NWA.

I’ve read other opinions on the subject saying that TNA becoming it’s own company apart from the NWA will cause TNA to shut down but I disagree with this and if anything cause TNA to shut down it will probably be the WWE not because they are apart from the NWA. I doubt that it will have any effect at all except that it will help TNA become it’s own company and if you have noticed TNA has distanced itself from the NWA name already so it probably won’t effect TNA to become it’s own company.

If you think about it TNA is basically it’s own company already because what is the NWA? The NWA isn’t a major competitor in wrestling and the NWA has been dead since Ted Turner bought it from Jim Crockett and changed the name to WCW. The NWA board doesn’t have any real authority and who exactly is the NWA championship committee? If these people that claim to run the NWA actually have any authority why is it that no one knows or even cares who they are or what decisions they make for the NWA? The NWA in the 1980’s was a major competitor and some of the biggest stars in wrestling history were the NWA champion but the NWA is dead. The NWA today is a bunch of indy promoters that want to claim that they are apart of the NWA but the NWA today means nothing to the fans. The history of the NWA certainly means something to the fans and the wrestlers but the NWA died when Ted Turner bought it from Jim Crockett. It’s been reported on internet sites that the NWA plans to make former ROH champion Bryan Danielson the next NWA champion and it might be a wise move because Danielson might be able to bring some credibility back to the title.

When TNA started it was linked to the NWA as a way to lend credibility to the company but it’s time for TNA to officially become it’s own company and I think it’s a good decision that TNA is going to become it’s own company. If Samoa Joe wins the title at Destination X and is officially the TNA Heavy Weight champion is could mark the beginning of a new era in pro wrestling.

Until next week
