Why didn't they think of this before?
"The Reaction Zone" Written by: Jacob Gilbert on 5/31/2007

It's been 2 years since WWE had its last draft lottery, which was spread out across four weeks on Raw & Smackdown. When it was over, John Cena & Dave Batista, the champions at the time, swapped brands, with Cena going to Raw and Batista to Smackdown. On June 11, it's entirely possible both men could be under the same umbrella.

This will be the 4th draft in the last 6 years, 3rd in the last 4. However, there's only one true GM this time, and that's Smackdown's Teddy Long, who ironically was drafted by then-GM Paul Heyman 3 years ago as a manager. Long and his support team (Vicki Guerrero & Kristal Marshall) have the advantage in that ECW doesn't have a GM anymore after Heyman left in December, and Jonathan Coachman, the "executive assistant" to Chairman Wackjob, is only heard doing commentary on Heat after getting squashed by Bobby Lashley a couple of weeks back. Chairman Wackjob represented Smackdown in the first draft in 2002, but will he or Coachman rep for Raw this time? The way I see it now, Coachman will return for the draft, and Dr. McNutty will represent ECW unless he loses their title back to Lashley at One Night Stand this Sunday (and I do see that happening).

Think back to the '04 draft. Then-Raw GM Eric Bischoff drafted Heyman with his last pick, a waste since Heyman promptly "quit" in the storyline, ending a 5 month run. It's entirely possible Coachman could wind up reassigned this time, since he's been nothing more than a joke on Raw anyway. Moves have to be made based on the injuries that have wracked WWE virtually from the beginning of the year, and also to address the glaring lack of depth across the board after the spring cleaning performed by Stephanie McMahon-LeVesque over the last three weeks. Let's try to nudge a few ideas toward Uncreative, shall we?

From Raw to Smackdown:

After thinking it over, I think Kenny Dykstra could benefit from moving to Smackdown. Sure, it'll separate Kenny from fiancee Mickie James, but with all the crossovers they've been doing, that point might as well be moot. I don't see any more front-line guys moving off Raw. Triple H will be back in July or August, and they're grooming old pal Randy Orton for him before he makes a run at John Cena. Cena, IC champ Santino Marella, and women's champ Melina Perez are not going anywhere. Well, not now, anyway. I see Eugene, Val Venis, and the World's Greatest Tag Team (as a unit) going to Smackdown. I also see Torrie Wilson returning to Smackdown after being traded over 2 years ago.

From Raw to ECW:

As I said earlier, Jonathan Coachman has been nothing more than comedy relief as a heel authority figure on Raw. His act is stale on Mondays, but put him in ECW and let him run the show, it could be a different story. This will have benefits in the fall & winter months, with Coachman's commitments to CSTV, giving him an extra day's rest. Joining Coachman will be Chris Masters, a move that had been rumored a while back.

From ECW to Smackdown:

Matt Striker is not long for the New Breed. He made his WWE debut on Smackdown, and it'd be a better fit for him career-wise. Right now, I don't see anyone else moving in this direction.

From Smackdown to ECW:

Boogeyman. He's Sci-Fi's kind of guy. 'Nuff said. I also see Chris Benoit coming over. He got his first exposure in the US in the original ECW, so it'd be a sort of homecoming.

From Smackdown to Raw:

Matt Hardy joins brother Jeff, Jillian Hall trades in her pop diva dreams for a shot at the women's title, and William Regal & Dave Taylor replace WGTT on the Raw roster. Contrary to what some people think, Undertaker & Ken Kennedy, currently on the DL, aren't going anywhere. Batista & MVP are safe as well. Might as well make it official and send Josh Mathews or Steve Romero (both on 24/7) to replace Coachman on Heat.

From ECW to Raw:

This would be a longshot and a mistake as well, but they could move CM Punk over (which would allow him & Maria to be together). Otherwise, the only logical move would be to send the currently inactive Mike Knox over. He doesn't have a storyline at the moment, and at least there'd be a fresh face on Heat. Lashley's not going anywhere, kids, and will get a steady diet of Snitsky & Marcus Cor Van over the summer. Of course, the other possibility is sending Cor Van to Raw and feed him to John Cena.

We'll all find out together if Uncreative got it right on June 11. One Night Stand picks next time.
