Source:SHERDOG.comBen Rothwell and Mike Whitehead have been removed from the International Fight League Grand Prix due to contractual disputes, the IFL announced via its Web site Tuesday.
Rothwell, the clear favorite in the tournament's heavyweight field, has nine victories in as many bouts in the IFL, including a win over former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez in his last outing.
Bryan Vetell will fill in for Rothwell and face Antoine Jaoude , while Roy Nelson takes on Reese Andy on the other side of the heavyweight bracket.
To add to the card's light heavyweight woes, out with Whitehead is Andre Gusmao , who suffered a foot injury that will prevent him from competing. This leaves UFC veterans Vladimir Matyushenko and Alex Schoenauer to do battle for the IFL 205-pound crown.
At welterweight, Mark Miller has been forced out of the GP with a hand injury and will be replaced by Brad Blackburn , who will tangle with Delson Heleno . The winner will confront the victor of Jay Hieron versus Patrick Healy.
The IFL 2007 World Grand Prix will be televised live from the Sears Center in Chicago, Ill. via MyNetworkTV on Nov. 3. Scheduled for one hour, it will be the first time the MMA league has produced content for live television.
Sherdog.com has learned that three fights will be shown live: Benji Radach versus Brent Beauparlant ; the anticipated lightweight rematch between Bart Palaszewski and Chris Horodecki; and the title fight between Matyushenko and Schoenauer.
