Here are the results from December 29, 2007 International Fight League Grand Prix Finals.


Marcello Salazar vs. Alex Cook
Round 1
Both fighters start the round feeling each other out on the feet. Salazar shoots for a double leg and takes down Cook. Salazar, now in side-control, lands six hard knees to the body. The fighters are stood up eventually after inactivity. Salazar lands a right then again takes down Cook, landing in his full guard. Some ineffective strikes from the top. The round ends with Salazar in Cooks guard. 10-9 Salazar.

Round 2
Cook lands several punches that plants Salazar on his back. Salazar lies on his back and is stood up. Salazar attempts a front kick eliciting a laugh from Cook. Cook lands a big knee as he is taken down by Salazar. Salazar is in Cooks guard. The fight is restarted in the center of the ring. Salazar lands some punches from the top. Fighters get back up to their feet briefly before Salazar takes Cook down again, where the round ends. 10-9 Salazar.

Round 3
Salazar takes Cook down and winds up in the mount. The fight is stood up due to inactivity. Cook attempts a high kick. Salazar fakes a few punches and takes Cook down landing in his full guard. Cook attempts an arm-bar from bottom. Cook lands some short punches from the bottom, and Salazar responds with 2 Mongolin chops which land partially. A third chop is followed by hammer fists. The fight ends with Salazar landing some shots from the top. 10-9 Salazar. All three judges score the bout 30-27 for Marcello Salazar, avenging his previous loss to Cook.

Brett Cooper vs. Rory Markham
Round 1
Markham lands a couple punches to start the fight. Both fighters trade high kicks. Markham lands some punches as he moves in. Markham lands a left hook and stuns Cooper. A high kick lands and as the fight hits the mat Markham quickly latches on a triangle choke. Cooper does a good job of hanging on. Markham tires and Cooper finally escapes as he lands in Markhams guard. Markham again attempts a triangle but Cooper slips out quickly. The fighters stand up and Copper throws a knee which barely misses. Wild punches by both are being thrown. Cooper shoots fro a takedown that is stuffed against the tropes. Markham ends the round landing some punches, but Cooper is not hurt badly. 10-9 Markham in a close round.

Round 2
Both fighters trade as Cooper lands a right hand and then shoots for the double leg takedown. Markham stands up and Cooper punishes him with strikes on the way up. Cooper lands several punches flush before an uppercut plants Markham and Cooper swarms in with strikes, forcing the referee to stop the fight by TKO at 1:15 of the second round. A successful debut for Cooper.

Elias Rivera vs. Tim Kennedy
Round 1
Kennedy throws a low kick which is met with a counter punch that lands. Kennedy grabs Rivera and slams him to the mat. Kennedy scrambles and lands on top, transitioning to half guard. Rivera is doing a good job of nullifying Kennedy's offense from the top. Kennedy postures up to mount and drops heavy punches, knocking Rivera out cold at 2:00 of the first round. Medical staff quickly entered the ring and placed Rivera on a stretcher, who did show movement, removing him from the ring.

Roy Nelson vs. Antoine Jaoude
Round 1
Both men throwing heavy leather to start the fight for the belt. Nelson throws a heavy counter right following a low kick. Nelson stuffs a Jaoude takedown. The fighters clinch and grapple along the ropes. Nelson lands an uppercut as they step back from the clinch. They clinch again along the ropes again before the referee restarts it in the middle. Jaoude lands a couple stiff jabs. Jaoude lands some hard punches, but Nelson ends the round with a huge punch that drops Jaoude, stealing the round 10-9 on the Sherdog scorecard.

Round 2
Nelson picks up where he left off with a monstrous punch that drops Jaoude and Nelson rushes in to finish quickly at 22 seconds of the second. Roy Nelson is the IFL Heavyweight champion.

LC Davis vs. Wagnney Fabiano
Round 1
Davis stuffs a takedown from Fabiano. The fighters clinch and Fabiano wrestles him down into Davis' guard. Davis does a good job of latching on and nullifying any offense from Fabiano. Fabiano gains full mount but has trouble inflicting damage. Davis rolls out of it and they scramble to the feet. Fabiano immediately attempts another takedown, eventually wrestling Davis down against the ropes. Davis rose and tried to escape but Fabiano quickly latched on for an armbar and tapped out Davis at 3:38 of the first round to become the first featherweight champion of the IFL.

Jay Hieron vs. Delson Heleno
Round 1
Both fighters start cautiously on their feet. Hieron lands a right straight. Hieron lands a hook and an uppercut. Fans boo as both fighters play it a bit safe. Hieron connects with a left but not much damage is being done. Heleno may have suffered an injury throwing a kick. Smelling blood and reacting to Heleno injury, Hieron fired and connected with punches and dropped Heleno. Hieron swarmed in and dropped blows before Heleno was saved by the bell, but unable to continue due to injury. Hieron wins the welterweight belt by an injury stoppage at the conclusion of the first round.

The attendance has been announced as being 5,731.

Matt Horwich vs. Benji Radach
Round 1
Radach momentarily stuns Horwich with punches early as Horwich latches on to a leg and holds it on the ground. As the fighters stand, Radach lands a solid right to the jaw. The fighters clinch against the ropes. After Horwich threw little more than rabbit punches in the corner the action was restarted. Horwich has the action in his corner of the ring looking for Lindland's advice. Again the fight is restarted in the middle. Radach lands punches as he backs away from Horwich into the ropes. Sherdog.com scores it 10-9 Radach.

Round 2
The fighters clinch again after a brief standup exchange. Radach pulls Horwich down in the corner and the action is soon moved to the center of the ring. Radach is in Horwich's guard. As Radach steps back and allows Horwich to stand up, Horwich charges forward and unloads a huge punch that drops Radach for a flash KO victory at 1:58 of the second to notch the win.

Ryan Schultz (Pictures) vs. Chris Horodecki
Round 1
Both fighters feel each other out on the feet. Schultz gathers up Horodecki into the ropes and begins to unload but the match is moved to the center with Schultz in Hordoecki's guard. Schultz makes some space and lands a punch and elbows from the top. Schultz lands vicious blows to the face of Horodecki, who absorbed a lot of punishment in trying to keep fighting, but eventually the referee stepped in to save the IFL poster boy at 2:51 of the first. Schultz takes the lightweight belt in the main event and hands the face of the IFL his first loss in MMA, capping an exciting night of fights.
