Matt Striker vs. CM Punk. They say whatever
doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. CM lost last week
to Hardcore Holly, but Mr. Straight Edge isn't dwelling on
that. Pretty even bout, which really isn't a surprise considering
that once upon a time Striker held his own against Kurt Angle.
Kelly, however, factored into the finish. She got on the apron
and flashed Striker, leading to Punk using a backslide to
get the win.Winner: CM Punk. Worth noting is that Punk &
Kelly left separately.
Bobby Lashley interview. The ECW champion knows that he could
lose the title without being involved in the decision in a
triple threat match for the title vs. Rob Van Dam & Test.
Twice during the show we'd see footage of the finish from
last week.
Marques Colvan vs. Cassidy Riley.Colvan is
Monty Brown, who still has the Alpha Male gimmick, but has
been forced to change his name for copyright reasons. Riley
worked a dark match Monday, losing to Hacksaw Jim Duggan,
which for all intents and purposes might as well have been
a try-out match, like this one. Colvan hit the Pounce, which
Joey & Tazz didn't know how to call, but that wasn't the
finish. Instead, Colvan hit a side Russian legsweep, and floated
into a Fujiwara armbar submission. Riley tapped quickly. Post-match,
Colvan cut a promo. He didn't like the "What?" chants
that followed every sentence, something he has to get used
to. The promo was his way of introducing himself to ECW/WWE.
Figure he'll be next in line for the ECW title in due course.
Winner: Marques Colvan.
Elijah Burke vs. Sandman.Short match. Sandman's
best move was KOing Sylvester Turkay with a cane shot at the
start. Turkay was never a factor after that. Burke tried a
moonsault, but Sandman crotched him on the top rope. Sandman
went up, despite favoring a left arm that appeared to be injured,
but Burke elbowed him off and pinned him with a handful of
pants Winner: Elijah Burke..
Bobby Lashley vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Test [ECW World
Championship Match] Lashley immediately went after
Test, collecting a receipt for the chair shots from last week.
Once the bell sounded to start the match, all three men went
at it full bore, but the focus was on Lashley vs. Van Dam,
as this seemed to be the blowoff for them, setting up Test
as the next challenger. RVD hit the Rolling Thunder on both
men, then hit the 5-Star on Test, who rolled out of the ring
and out of the match. Lashley speared Van Dam, then hit the
running powerslam for the win. Post-match, Test took possession
of the belt and waffled Lashley with it. "It's mine!",
he kept screaming, sounding obsessed with the championship.
This may be his last chance at the brass ring, and his best
one. Lashley was left lying for the 2nd straight week to end
the show. |
