Matt Striker def. C.M. Punk
Hardcore Holly def. Rob Van Dam
ECW Championship Match: Bobby
Lashley def. Test |

| Detailed Results |
The first thing we see is Vince McMahon in an ECW locker room
for the first time. He meets Marquis Cor Van (his lone appearance
of the night), then Sandman. The Hardcore Icon is reading
USA Today and at first ignores the mad chairman, but eventually
Vince does get to talk to him. A lame attempt at singing a
few bars of "Mr. Sandman" don't endear Vince to
Sandman either.
CM Punk vs. Matt Striker Return match from
1/16, but this time Punk is going it alone, as there's no
sign of Kelly Kelly. Seems her storyline with CM's been stopped
abruptly. Anyway, Striker hangs in there with Punk, and weathers
Punk's late flurry. He blocks a sunset flip from the outside
in, then grabs the ropes for leverage to secure the victory.
Cheap, lame, and tired as far as the booking goes.Winner:
Matt Striker.
Vince meets Trinity, I believe, and Tommy Dreamer. More disrespect
toward the original ECW stars.
Hardcore Holly vs. Rob Van Dam Joey references
the match these two had 2 months ago when Holly needed two
dozen stitches to close a gaping wound in his back from going
through a table on a suplex. Did Hardcore get the revenge
for that incident? Yes. RVD spent too much time early on playing
to the crowd, and as anyone knows from seeing RVD on WWE programming
the last 5 1/2 years, that does come back to haunt him periodically.
This was one of those times. RVD hit the Rolling Thunder,
but misfired on the 5-Star, and after a whip into the corner
post, Holly hit the Alabama Slam for the clean pin. Winner:
Hardcore Holly.
Vince meets with Sabu & Balls Mahoney backstage. Meanwhile,
Kelly and her new dance team, Extreme Expose (Brooke Adams
& Layla El) perform to the beat of Christina Aguilera's
"Dirrty". Vince interrupts this and sends the girls
to the back, along with rent-a-jobber security. Vince rips
the classic ECW, claiming it sucked. Funny coming from a guy
who actually helped ECW along financially back in the day.
He calls out Elijah Burke, declaring Burke to be the future
of ECW. A Burke-Cor Van team looks pretty promising right
about now. Burke drones on and on, prompting a "Boring!"
chant from the fans. The ECW originals that Vince had scorned
earlier (Dreamer, Sandman, Sabu, Mahoney) come charging out
and destroy Burke, putting him through a table. Vince backs
away, making threats.
Bobby Lashley vs. Test [ ECW Championship Match]
Last week, Lashley won a non-title tilt vs. the Toronto Tower.
On Sunday, Test let himself be counted out. Lashley wasn't
digging that, and so relished the opportunity for the rematch.
Early on, Test tried to piledrive Lashley on the concrete,
but that backfired as Lashley powered out. Test got heat after
shoving Lashley into the corner post, then applying a rest
hold as we came back from break. He worked on the left shoulder
of the champion, but 2 minutes later, Lashley's stopped selling
the arm and is back on the attack. He hits an exploder suplex
and sets up for the running powerslam, but Test dodges and
tries for his Yakuza kick finisher. Lashley ducks and hits
the powerslam to win the match.Winner: Bobby Lashley. Post-match,
Undertaker made another surprise appearance, and this time
appeared in center ring. Test tried to sneak in with a chair,
but Taker cut him off and chokeslammed him. UT & Lashley
stared at each other at the end of the show. |
