Tonight's program begins with Rated RKO meeting backstage.
It didn't take long for Randy Orton to learn of Edge's jealousy-driven
plan to take him out of Money in the Bank III after the
Legend Killer had qualified last night on Raw. Edge swears
he has Orton's back vs. Bobby Lashley, but does he?
8-man battle royal: New Breed (Elijah Burke, Matt Striker,
Marcus Cor Van, & Kevin Thorn w/Ariel) vs. The ECW Originals
(Tommy Dreamer, Sandman, Sabu, & Rob Van Dam).
It's confirmed that these 8 will meet in a tag team match
at Wrestlemania 23. The order of elimination:
1. Sandman (by Matt Striker)
2. Cor Van (by Sabu & Van Dam)
3. Sabu (by Thorn)
4. & 5. Thorn & Van Dam (simultaneous elimination)
6. Striker (by Dreamer)
7. Burke (by Dreamer)
Winner: Tommy Dreamer, although the Originals as a team
were announced as the winners.
Sabu, Van Dam, & Sandman came back out to celebrate,
and were soon joined by Mick Foley, who came out not only
to plug "The Hardcore Diaries", but also to cut
a promo in support of the Originals for Wrestlemania, saying
he'll be up in the bleachers at Ford Field. Foley started
an "ECW! ECW!" chant as he left.
Extreme Expose is out, wearing matching outfits for a change.
Their routine, however, is interrupted by the arrival of
Gene Snitsky, who scares off the girls. Snitsky
vs. Danny Jackson & Michael Deegan.Total squash,
quick & painful. A boot to the head finished Deegan.Winner:
Snitsky.
Bobby Lashley vs. Randy Orton (w/Edge).
We're not even a couple of minutes into the match, and already
there are issues with the former World tag team champs.
Edge wanted to get involved, but was cut off by ref Scott
Armstrong. Orton, after taking a clothesline from Lashley,
slid out to the floor to confront Edge. I have a feeling
that decision is going to cost Orton by the time this thing's
over. After the first break, Orton has gained control of
the match with a Boston Crab, but Lashley makes the ropes,
forcing a break. Orton hits a over-the-back neckbreaker,
but can't put the champ away. Edge grabs the ECW title and
starts for the ring, but Armstrong has seen enough and tosses
out the Rated R Superstar. The knowing smirk tells the story.
Edge might've planned this all along, and now Orton must
fend for himself the rest of the way as we take one last
break. Well, it's back and forth the rest of the way, as
Lashley hit a belly-to-back suplex on the floor, but ended
up eating the steel steps soon after. Orton got back in
control, but not for long. Lashley battled back and got
out of a 2nd Boston Crab with a rope break. Two corner spears
set up the Dominator 2.0 (running powerslam) to finish off
Orton.Winner: Bobby Lashley. Post-match, Vince McMahon came
out, angry that the champion won yet again, but not a word
was spoken as the insane chairman stood on the ramp confronting
Lashley to end the show.
