We start on a downer, because Chairman Wackjob, Vince McMahon,
opens the show. Blah, blah, blah. Bobby Lashley is barred
from the building and has a concussion due to what happened
last night. Vince plays the footage from Raw.
Kevin Thorn (w/Ariel) vs. Tommy Dreamer
Neither man is 100% after last week's extreme rules 8-man
tag. Thorn has neck issues. Dreamer has problems with his
back. Ariel provides an unnecessary distraction, diverting
ref Mike Posey's attention while Thorn scoops the legs out
from under Dreamer on the top rope to set up the Dark Kiss.
Didn't need the distraction, since Thorn didn't cheat, although
Thorn had trouble rolling Dreamer into position for the
pin. Winner: Kevin Thorn.
CM Punk & Rob Van Dam are backstage, chatting. Elijah
Burke interrupts, and he & RVD argue over Punk, who
decides he'll announce his allegiance to either the Originals
or the New Breed later in the show. I can already guess
which way he's going to go, and it is, in my opinion, another
mistake in the booking.
Extreme Expose are applying makeup in the dressing room
when Snitsky walks in. One by one, the girls leave, with
Layla the last one to go.
CM Punk vs. Stevie Richards. Richards gets
no entrance this week, and is already in the ring for this
rematch when Punk comes out. Matt Striker comes down, as
does Sandman, to scout Punk. It is here where they can say
Punk finalized his decision, because Sandman swung at Striker
on the floor, missed, and clipped Punk's legs. Richards
schoolboyed Punk with a handful of tights, but Punk rolled
through, hooked both legs, and gained the clean pin. He
had words with Sandman later, and Sandman maintained it
was an accident. Winner: CM Punk.
For the 2nd straight week, Extreme Expose performs a complete
routine to the music of Timbaland. Just as the piece ends,
Snitsky comes out. Kelly & Brooke run for cover, but
Layla is too scared to run. Snitsky just stares at her.
Balls Mahoney comes down and makes the save with a chair
shot, but Snitsky no-sold, and booted Mahoney in the head.
Notice that Balls turned his head so that Snitsky wouldn't
hit him in the face.
Rob Van Dam vs. Marcus Cor Van. Joey notes
that this is the 1st ever meeting between RVD & the
Alpha Male. Wow. Sabu and Elijah Burke are in the respective
corners. At one point, Cor Van went for the Alpha Bomb,
but Van Dam countered into a released victory roll. Cor
Van hit a released German suplex for 2. Burke went after
Sabu and DDT'd him on the floor. Sabu was already selling
the effects of being tabled last week by Burke. Van Dam
gives chase, and runs right into the Pounce. Even though
Burke ran into the ring, ref Scott Armstrong didn't bother
calling for the DQ. I wish they'd change that portion of
the booking. Winner: Marcus Cor Van. Punk came back out
and checked on Sabu, then hit the ring. He made like he
was going to fight, but then turned heel and shook hands
with Burke. Striker, Ariel, & Thorn came back out, and
for the 2nd night in a row, the heels are celebrating to
end the show. Not good.
