We open with a recap from Backlash, and the dawn of a dark era for the tribe of extreme. After "Bodies", former champion Bobby Lashley is out to address the fans. He puts over that Chairman Wackjob got his revenge for getting his head shaved at Wrestlemania a month ago, but the fans, the Originals, & Lashley are not happy that Vince McMahon is the ECW champ. Lashley wants the mad chairman, but gets a wheelchair bound Armando Estrada instead. Lashley can have his rematch, but cannot touch either Umaga or Vince or Shane McMahon unless physically provoked. Unfortunately for Armando, he forgot to include himself on the list, so Lashley takes him and pushes the wheelchair into the steps. Armando tumbles over the top and is knocked out.

The New Breed are gathered backstage. CM Punk left the group after just a couple of weeks, so now Elijah Burke, otherwise known as DL Hughley's fraternal twin brother, reasserts control. Unfortunately, the smile has left, replaced with bitterness and anger.

Kevin Thorn vs. CM Punk. We've seen these two go at it before, and oddly, they did a dark match prior to Raw in Milan 2 weeks ago. Burke brought the group out pre-match, cut a promo on Punk, then, after pulling off his jacket, volunteered Thorn. Not bad for an opener. Thorn was treated like a jobber, and Ariel did absolutely nothing. Punk hit a kick that knocked Thorn into the ropes, and the vampire rebounded right into position for the Go To Sleep. Goodnight, Mr. Thorn.Winner: CM Punk.

Marcus Cor Van & Matt Striker (w/Elijah Burke) vs. The Majors Brothers. Brett & Brian Majors (not Major as announced by Joey Styles and ring announcer Justin Roberts) are 2-time former Deep South tag champs who've apparently been called up with the demise of DSW. Again, the Breed are made to look like prize chumps, especially Striker. Cor Van has the match in hand, but doesn't even try the Pounce on the rookies. He tags out to Striker, which proves to be a costly mistake. One brother lands a crossbody block on Striker, and that leads to an upset for the twins. Winners: The Majors Brothers.Post-match, Burke berated Striker for losing and sent him to the back disconsolate

Chairman Wackjob makes his way out, walking a little bit differently. The Robert Crumb exaggerated power walk has been replaced with a goofy swagger in his step. He reiterates that he'll give Lashley his rematch when it suits him. Hmmmm. The Originals are out, this after their promos were replayed after premiering on Raw last night. Rob Van Dam & Tommy Dreamer make the most of their mic time, and put over that the fans wanted ECW back in the first place, which is true. McMahon ignores the obvious truth, more evidence that the man has completely lost his mind. He decides on an extreme rules fatal 4-way dance to determine his first challenger.

Tommy Dreamer vs. Sandman vs. Sabu vs. Rob Van Dam (extreme rules). It seemed as though they went through the motions and not going all-out at a time when they really needed to get their point across physically to Mr. McNutty. Has anyone told Vince that do-rag looks stupid on him, and we can see that his hair is growing back gray? Dreamer hit a piledriver on RVD that was sold big time. Van Dam bounced like a basketball. Sabu set up Sandman for an Atomic Arabian Facebuster through a table, but Dreamer instead superplexed Sabu through, with Sandman cushioning the fall. Sandman fell right into range for Van Dam to hit the 5-Star frogsplash. Perhaps mindful of what happened on Raw, Rob just lays on top to get the 3. Winner: Rob Van Dam..
