We open with a recap from Raw of the destruction of Jonathan
Coachman by Bobby Lashley, and the subsequent post-match
silliness. It'd be repeated later in the show because Chairman
Wackjob likes to beat the point into the ground. Speaking
of the insane ECW Champ, he's at WWE Studios, staying as
far away from Lashley as possible until Sunday.
Rob Van Dam vs. Snitsky Well, maybe RVD
will be just another victim. Not so fast. RVD actually knocked
Snitsky down, but missed the rolling thunder, as these two
know each other from their days on Raw. Snitsky missed the
big boot, crotching himself on the top rope. Out of frustration,
Snitsky grabs a chair and waffles Van Dam with it on the
floor, right in front of ref Scott Armstrong, making the
result academic.Winner: Rob Van Dam via DQ.
CM Punk vs. Stevie Richards. Having not
seen Punk's loss to Marcus Cor Van last week, I finally
see how Cor Van won, with an illegal assist from Elijah
Burke. Punk's still selling the ribs as a result, but Richards
doesn't go after them right away. That lack of planning
proved to be costly, as Richards finally went on offense
a little too late to make it mean anything. He goes to the
middle rope, stands up, and tries to set up a tornado DDT.
Standing up for this was a bad idea, as Punk gets him up
across his shoulders and hits the Go To Sleep. Good night,
sweet prince! Winner: CM Punk.
Backstage, the New Breed are watching, and we learn 2 things.
1) Marcus Cor Van may be the next opponent for Lashley,
title or no title, and 2) Matt Striker may be on his way
out of the Breed, as Elijah Burke is browbeating him again.
Thanks for telegraphing the finish to the main event.
Kevin Thorn (w/Ariel) vs. Nunzio. Sucks
to be Nunzio these days. Can't use the name "Little
Guido" anymore because of copyright issues (at least
that's the excuse they'll use). Loses the FBI gimmick because
his former and perhaps future partner Vito was cut earlier
in the day, and he's in there with Thorn as a late replacement
for Sabu, who was also fired. Not quite a total squash,
but it's been a bad night for "ECW Originals"
already. Thorn hits the Dark Kiss off the top rope for the
win. Winner: Kevin Thorn.
Bobby Lashley vs. the New Breed. Lashley
cut a promo pre-match saying he was going to destroy the
Breed, then do the same to Team Wackjob at Judgment Day.
Lovely. Cor Van was the only one who had any sustained offense
against Lashley, including the Pounce, which Lashley sold
by going over the top rope. Unfortunately, the Breed's momentum
slowed to a crawl after that. Striker got left all alone
with the former champ, and was promptly destroyed with a
spear. No Dominator this week. Winner: Bobby Lashley.
