Tommy Dreamer vs. Snitsky. Snitsky is the
definition of a hairless ape. Literally. They made him shave
his hair, goatee, and eyebrows for his current gimmick.
Protracted squash. Tommy got some offense in, and actually
got Snitsky down for a near fall after a DDT, this after
Snitsky crotched himself on the top rope for the 2nd straight
week. Dreamer goes to the middle rope, but is met with a
crunching clothesline to the head. Snitsky connects with
the boot to the head this time, and picks up the win.Winner:
Snitsky. Post-match, Snitsky decides to add further damage,
but Rob Van Dam makes the save with a VanDaminator off the
top, a receipt for last week.
Extreme Expose doesn't dance for a change. Layla's adopted
a British accent, apparently, and introduces the Timbaland/Hives
video, "Throw it on Me". We'll also see this on
Smackdown, introduced by Ashley & Maryse.
Kevin Thorn vs. Wyatt Lara. Total squash.
Thorn goes solo for the first time, and Ariel is mentioned
in passing. The Dark Kiss is renamed the Original Sin, but
still effective Winner: Kevin Thorn.
Backstage, Marcus Cor Van & Elijah Burke are talking
strategy for their match later, but Matt Striker happens
along. Burke, unsurprisingly, is blaming Striker for his
loss to CM Punk at Judgment Day. Oh, sure, deny responsibility.
Striker is under pressure to win or there are some problems,
"and you don't want to have problems", as Cor
Van tells Striker.
Matt Striker vs. Brett Major (w/Brian Major).
I guess the next feud for the New Breed will be with the
Major Brothers. Burke beat Brian last week, and in convincing
fashion. Striker has his problems with Brett, despite the
experience advantage. Brett misses a dropkick, and Striker
hits a sloppy Golden Rule, followed by a more conventional
neckbreaker, for the win. Apparently, he had to do a do-over,
just as Carlito did last night.Winner: Matt Striker.
Marcus Cor Van & Elijah Burke vs. Rob Van Dam
& CM Punk. I half expected Snitsky to come
back out at some point to return the receipt to Van Dam,
but it didn't happen. Very good match, easily the best on
the show. When Punk was tagged in before the commercial,
he exploded into the ring with a springboard clothesline
on Burke. Back from break, and RVD was tagged back in, only
to become face in peril. They worked on the knees, trying
to ground Van Dam. One enziguri later, and Punk is back
in off the hot tag. They went right to the finish after
Punk hit the bulldog. He set up for the Go To Sleep, but
Cor Van broke that up, then hit the Pounce. Because he ignored
the instructions of ref Scott Armstrong, Cor Van actually
cost his team the match. New Breed didn't seem to care,
as RVD got the same treatment, and Burke & Cor Van stood
tall to end the show. Winners: Rob Van Dam & CM Punk
via DQ.
