Randy Orton is tonight's special guest. Orton brings with
him a vidpack of last night's match vs. Rob Van Dam, whom
he'll face on Sunday in a stretcher match, which figures
to serve as RVD's swan song. Tommy Dreamer comes out, and
a match is made for later. The vidpack would be replayed
later in the show.
Elijah Burke vs. CM Punk (No-DQ). Return
match from Judgment Day. We learn that the New Breed will
face Dreamer, Punk, & Sandman at One Night Stand in
a table match. A table does figure prominently in this contest,
however. Burke & Punk are taking equal amounts of punishment,
while Joey & Tazz beat the point home that the match
is No-DQ. Turning point comes after a table's been set up
in a corner by Burke. Punk, though, has the advantage, and
sets up Burke for his own move, the Elijah Express. Marcus
Cor Van, however, gets involved. Burke blocks Punk's advance.
Punk makes two attempts at the Go To Sleep, but on the 2nd
one, Burke squirms out of danger long enough for Cor Van
to Pounce Punk into the table. Don't you just hate this
sort of thing? Winner: Elijah Burke.
Bobby Lashley & Chairman Wackjob are separated by several
miles for an interview. Dr. McNutty mocks Tazz & Joey
and conducts the interview himself. He's lost his communicative
talents, that's for sure. Lashley is confident, and no mention
is made of Shane beating him last night. I have a feeling
Shane will get involved again on Sunday, but this time,
the title has to go back to Lashley. Dr. McNutty has already
worn out his welcome as ECW champ.
Extreme Expose performs, and Layla shows no signs of injury
after Jerry Lawler thought she might've turned an ankle
getting dumped from the ring last night.
Kevin Thorn vs. Balls Mahoney. Total squash.
What else is Balls there for now, anyway? Winner: Kevin
Thorn.
Tommy Dreamer vs. Randy Orton. Pretty even
main event, but one gets the feeling that we'll see another
repeat like last night. Well, not quite. Dreamer does get
a couple of near falls with a short powerbomb and an inverted
DDT, but Orton strikes suddenly with the RKO and gets the
pinfall. Winner: Randy Orton. Post-match, Orton added a
2nd RKO, and ref Scott Armstrong could've reversed the decision
if he so desired. After a couple of kicks to the head, Rob
Van Dam, not medically cleared to compete, came down in
civvies. He missed a spin kick, and a mere forearm shiver
from Orton puts RVD down. Heels swept all three matches,
more of the stupid, irresponsible booking we've come to
expect on the week of a PPV. Back Thursday with Impact.
