We open with a recap from last week's main event, when CM Punk became the ECW champion. The show proper begins with GM Armando Estrada, who brings out the new champion, claiming to be very proud of Punk. The house just flat explodes as Punk comes out, and he responds by bowing to the crowd the way a boxer does.

Punk coaxes Estrada into modeling his new Straight Edge Superstar shirt along with him, even autographing an extra shirt for the GM. Elijah Burke provides the buzzkiller, as Estrada introduces him as Punk's 1st challenger, at Unforgiven. Burke cuts a promo, claiming to be the first to recognize Punk's potential (he wasn't), and predicting he'll beat Punk on Sunday. The champ responds that Burke is looking into a broken magic 8-ball and needs a dose of reality. Burke shoves him away three times, the last being costly, as Punk hits a running enziguri to send the challenger running.

Match 1: Tommy Dreamer vs. Mike Mizanin (w/Extreme Expose) Standard fare for the 1st bout on the card. Dreamer had the advantage early on, and hung Miz on the tree of woe. An inverted DDT netted a 2, only because Miz had the presence of mind to put his foot on the rope. An attempt to use the ropes to gain an illegal pin, however, backfired. After Dreamer missed a corner charge, Miz struck with the Reality Check for the clean pin. Winner: Mike Mizanin.

Matt Striker/Big Daddy V filmed promo. BDV faces Boogeyman next week.

Kelly Kelly has drifted off on her own backstage, and Balls Mahoney gets her attention. He thinks she's special, and has a present for her----a teddy bear. Kelly loves it, of course, and is ready to kiss Balls, but then pauses and leaves.

Match 2: Matt Striker (w/Big Daddy V) vs. Nunzio A surprisingly fast match. Nunzio took it to Striker immediately, but BDV pulled Striker out of the path of a corner charge. Striker schoolboyed Nunzio and stacked up the legs for the pin. Winner: Matt Striker.

Post-match, BDV destroyed Nunzio, which should've been grounds for the decision to be reversed. Boogeyman's music hit, and the nightmare master was on the video screen, reciting a poem, subbing Big Daddy's name for Humpty Dumpty after the first verse.

They're replaying the revelation of Mr. McMahon's illegitimate child from last night. Why waste time here since the "child" isn't an ECW wrestler?

Match 3: Balls Mahoney vs. Mike Knox Knox returns after being away for several months, having been sent down over the winter. They keep cutting away backstage, as Extreme Expose is watching. Brooke ends up with the teddy bear. Knox has control virtually all the way. Balls begins throwing jabs, but stops when Miz shows up on the stage. Knox with a pump kick, and that is all. Meanwhile, Kelly finds her partners gone, along with the teddy bear. Winner: Mike Knox.

From the dept. of overkill: The footage from last week's main event is shown again to emphasize Punk becoming champion heading into Unforgiven.

Match 4: Elijah Burke & Kevin Thorn vs. CM Punk & Stevie Richards The two former New Breed members reunite in this tag match, but it seems there's no solidarity, as Thorn walks down the aisle well behind the self-serving Burke. Fast-paced main event loaded with action from start to finish. Richards, seeing his fellow ECW Originals go down to defeat earlier, looked strong against Burke early, but was thrashed when Thorn took over on offense.

The final part of the match saw Thorn & Punk take hot tags. The champ simply routed Thorn with an enziguri, a bulldog, and a springboard clothesline before pausing to take out Burke with a dropkick. Thorn capitalized on the loss of focus, and went for his crucifix bomb, but Punk slipped out, and hit the Go To Sleep. Good night, sweet prince! Winners: CM Punk & Stevie Richards.
