Our show begins by playing a commercial promoting the Kane-Big Daddy V match. After the opening montage, Mike Mizanin and Extreme Expose are out. Miz is pimpin' for votes for Cyber Sunday, and rags on BDV and John Morrison. He then turns his attention to Kelly Kelly, and threatens to fire her for breaching her contract by dating Balls Mahoney. Instead, Miz decides to make Kelly's life even more miserable. Surprisingly, Morrison comes out and offers Kelly the opportunity to spend a night with him. She answers with a slap. Enter Mahoney, who goes right after Morrison, only to have Miz join for a double team on Mahoney. Mahoney gets dumped over the top, but Morrison quickly dumps Miz out as well. That should be the end of the seg, but CM Punk comes out and chases Morrison out. I smell a tag match perking up for later.
Back from break, and Morrison and Miz are arguing. Armando Estrada breaks it up long enough to confirm what I had suspected. It will be Morrison & Miz vs. Mahoney & Punk in tonight's main event. Armando leaves, and the argument starts anew.
Match 1: Kane vs. Big Daddy V (w/Matt Striker) Kane has long been billed as being 7' tall. Turns out he's below that mark, as he stands face-to-face with Big Daddy, it shows that they're actually about the same height. The match, then, is just what you'd expect, two man-monsters trying to bludgeon each other into submission. Joey & Tazz have to pretend that BDV has never been rocked the way Kane has handled him in this match. In a past life, as Viscera, the extreme mastodon has battled Kane before. Just as Kane has things going his way, after two corner clotheslines and a flying clothesline off the top, Mark Henry makes a surprise appearance, prompting ref Scott Armstrong to call for the bell. Soon after, Great Khali, minus Runjin Singh, appears, but it seems the former World champion is not welcome as far as BDV is concerned. He chases the Punjabi Giant out of the ring, while Kane gets rid of Henry, essentially making his own save. Winner: Kane via DQ. Joey assumed that it was no-contest, but since the bell rang the second Henry made contact with Kane, figure this ends up with a DQ. Smackdown Rebound chronicles the history between Batista & Undertaker.
Backstage, CM Punk & Balls Mahoney talk strategy for their tag team match later. Think of last night's main event, change the players, and, well.....! Punk is also trying to pump Mahoney about his date with Kelly, and getting nowhere. Hmmmmm.
Match 2: Elijah Burke vs. Nunzio This spins out of last week's tag match vs. Jesse & Festus, in which Burke walked out on Nunzio, leaving the former cruiser champion to be beaten. Understandably, Nunzio is looking to get started right away, and it's all ref Mike Posey can do to keep them separated until the bell sounds to start the match. Standard JTTS match for Nunzio. Gets beaten down, rallies, keeps fighting, gets at least one near fall (after a Sicilian Slice off the top) before getting beaten. Burke intercepted a attempted dropkick by hitting an STO, then hit the Express to put this one in the bank. Winner: Elijah Burke. Backstage, Khali is ranting at Runjin Singh. Prior to the match, we found out that it will be a 4-man monster battle royal next week among Khali, Henry, Kane, & Big Daddy V. Khali's venom is apparently directed at BDV for an apparent show of disrespect earlier. Hmmmmm.
Match 3: CM Punk & Balls Mahoney vs. Mike Mizanin & John Morrison Miz left the girls in the back to minimalize any distractions. It turned into a game of "Can You Top This?" between Miz and Morrison, and that gamesmanship would ultimately cost them the match. Punk & Mahoney worked more effectively as a tag team, especially given this was their first time. Miz & Morrison have tagged before and have a win over Punk under their belts. Mahoney was, unsurprisingly, the face in peril for a good chunk of the match, but Morrison & Miz couldn't really capitalize because they were busy trying to taunt each other. You didn't see Shawn Michaels & Jeff Hardy do that on Raw last night. Mahoney would eventually make the hot tag to Punk, who promptly cleaned house. He hit the bulldog and the springboard clothesline on Morrison, but when he tried the bulldog on Miz, he got shoved right into Morrison, but the former champ was too dazed to actually take advantage and paid for it when Punk ducked a clothesline from Miz, who caught Morrison flush instead. Mahoney got rid of the extreme Svengali, and Punk hit the spinning Go To Sleep to send Morrison off to the land of Nod for the night. Winners: CM Punk & Balls Mahoney.
