Match 1: Robert Roode (w/Peyton Banks) & James Storm (w/Jackie Moore) vs. Eric Young & Sonjay Dutt Banks has dyed her hair black to look almost exactly like Traci Brooks, and Mike Tenay tells us that Brooks & Banks will meet at Against All Odds on 2/10. Decent opening bout totally dominated by Roode & Storm. Roode & Young renew hostilities to start. Young's attempt at a top rope move is cut off as Storm crotches him behind the back of ref Earl Hebner. Young tags out to Dutt, who immediately dropkicks Storm off the apron and has Roode reeling. However, as Hebner tries to get Young out of the ring, Storm superkicks Dutt right into the path of the Payoff. Winners: Robert Roode & James Storm.

Post-match, Brooks came out and came right after Banks. Roode & Young broke that up, but there won't be any holding these two back at the PPV.

Crystal tries interviewing Booker T, but Booker blows her off.

The first of the TNA awards is handed out, and Jay Lethal is named X Division Superstar of the Year. Lethal gets a peck on the cheek from So Cal Val, and then cuts a promo. He starts off by doing his Macho Man impersonation, but then takes off the headband & shades and speaks in his nornal voice, cutting the promo on Johnny Devine for their match later.

Crystal is in Black Reign's workshop backstage, only to find Reign unconscious. Kaz convienently appears and takes the wig and the Darkness Falls staff, then leaves.

Match 2: Elix Skipper vs. Shark Boy Last week, we were introduced to a new-look Shark Boy, adopting the mannerisms and persona of a certain Texas Rattlesnake. Well, tonight, Shark Boy has new theme music, and comes out wearing a vest that suspiciously looks like the attire of one Stone Cold Steve Austin. He even swivels and bobs his head a la Austin. The fans, of course, are going nuts, and the new music is derivative of the familiar Stone Cold theme. A month ago, you could chalk this up as a win for Skipper, who rarely gets a TV win anymore. Instead, the squashed does the squashing this time. The Austinesque offensive set includes the repeating stomps in the corner, and as if getting a mudhole stomped in him wasn't enough, Skipper tries to make a comeback, but misses a legdrop off the top. "Sharky" teases the bite on the butt, but waves that off and hits the Stone Cold Stunner. What? Yes, he won. WHAT? Winner: Shark Boy.

Post-match brings the predictable Austinesque promo, punctuated with "Sharky" calling for clam juice. What?

TNA Woman (Knockout) of the Year: Gail Kim. The former champion cuts a very intense promo on the current titlist, Awesome Kong, claiming that Kong, the most dominant force in the division, is a disgrace, only concerned with hurting her opponents. Well, that brings the champ and her new manager, Said ("Cheerleader" Melissa Anderson). Gail meets Kong with a spirited attack but is quickly beaten down. Mike reminds us that Gail "doesn't have a medical release" to return to action just yet. ODB comes out to make the save, but is herself beaten down. Kong sets up for the Awesome Bomb, but ODB dodges that, and after three dropkicks, chases the champion from the ring! Said convinces Kong that for now, retreat is the best option.

Kurt Angle makes his sales pitch to Tomko, including Karen in the bargain. Tomko declines, citing the fact that like Kurt, he's married and has a child. That's all the inspiration the tattooed muscleman needs. Kurt, of course, has to be a wiseacre and makes a crack about Tomko's wife, touching off a brawl that spills out to the Impact Zone. AJ Styles & security break it up, but after Kurt challenges Tomko to a match for next week and makes another remark, suggesting that Mrs. Tomko be ready to pick Tomko up from the hospital, the fight starts again, and Styles is more concerned with Karen's well-being......

Crystal is with Johnny Devine & Team 3D. Devine cuts a promo on Jay Lethal, and Team 3D puts the cart before the horse in doing the same on the Machineguns.....

Match 3: Jay Lethal vs. Johnny Devine (X title)(street fight) Lethal has got payback on his mind. Payback for Devine & Team 3D stealing the X title belt. Payback for the abuse Team 3D has heaped on the division. Devine is a bloody mess, and for a moment perhaps wishes that he was still with Raven. NOT! Lethal hits the Lethal Combination, then goes up top, but then Team 3D shows up. Lethal hits a crossbody block on them instead, then picks up his attack on Devine, who counters with a hot shot on a steel chair. Devine closes the chair, swings, and misses, but Lethal doesn't miss. Team 3D pulls ref Mark Johnson out of the ring, and Devon keeps Johnson at bay while Ray grabs a kendo stick and swats Lethal between the eyes. He drags Devine on top, and Devon releases Johnson to make the fatal cover. Lethal is screwed out of the title, and why? Winner & new X Division champion: Johnny Devine.

The new champ doesn't have time to celebrate, because Samoa Joe comes out of the crowd again. Team 3D abandons their protege, who is quickly choked out with the Kokina Clutch! Joe looks into the camera and hisses, "It's not my fault!"

Jeremy Borash is in the ring with former NBA star Kendall Gill, who, like Kurt Angle, is part of "Pros vs. Joes". The award for Most Memorable Moment in TNA in 2007 is up next. Gill announces that it was when Booker T debuted in TNA just two short months ago at Genesis. Booker gives a shout out to wife Sharmell, but the reverie is interrupted by Robert Roode, who insists that Sharmell's injury is Booker's fault. Pathetic.

Bob Armstrong and son BG James are with Crystal. They've got the tag title shot at Against All Odds, and Bob is ready to give BG a refresher course in Marine training. BG wants none of that, since it was 17 years ago when he served during Desert Storm. Semper Fi!

Match 4: Rock & Rave Infection (w/Christy Hemme) vs. Curry Man & Tiger Mask Christy, Jimmy Rave, & Lance Hoyt are now doing the whole rock star thang for their promo, and Christy is sporting a headset mic. As you know, she now has her own band. TNA would be wise to have them play on Impact sometime. Curry Man is the alter ego of "fired" wrestler Christopher Daniels, and personally, I'm not surprised Curry "debuted" here. However, the surprise is that there really wasn't an angle to herald his arrival, weeks after Daniels was "fired". Very even match. Hoyt must've felt like a fish out of water, the biggest man in the match. The finish saw Hoyt try to kick Curry's head off, but Tiger Mask pushed Curry out of harm's way, and Hoyt crotched himself on the top rope, then fell out. Curry took him out with a crossbody off the top, while Tiger Mask finished Rave with a diving headbutt off the top. Winners: Curry Man & Tiger Mask.

Earlier, there was a crossover with Pros vs. Joes, coming up next. Now, a crossover with UFC, as former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar is preparing for his MMA debut vs. Frank Mir next month. We get comments from Lesnar, Dana White, and Kurt Angle. Standard stuff.

The TNA MVP of '07 is Samoa Joe, and this gives Joe a bully pulpit to voice his disdain over the way he's been treated. He ends up KOing Jeremy Borash with a clothesline, and that brings Jim Cornette out. Kevin Nash returns to keep them apart. Joe wants a 5 year deal, paid 15% higher than Kurt Angle. A deal's been struck, and the contract figures to be signed next week.

Crystal is now with the suddenly dysfunctional tag team champs, and Tomko doesn't want to hear anything related to Kurt Angle. He says AJ Styles is "this close to becoming a problem". I believe it.

Match 5: AJ Styles & Tomko (w/Karen Angle) vs. Team 3D vs. the Motor City Machineguns (TNA tag titles) Tomko isn't pleased to have Karen in his corner, obviously, and that will only further the rift between him & Styles. It's a very even main event match, as it should be. It turned ugly early, as Ray knocked Tomko from the ring, then Styles reciprocated with a springboard flying forearm. After that, Styles hit a somersault plancha on the Machineguns. Karen turned on the charm on Ray, leaving him open to an attack from Styles. Ray, however, turned the tables, and knocked Styles into Karen. Concerned, Styles carried Karen to the back, leaving Tomko all alone as we went to break. Actually, that's not such a bad thing. Devon hit the Doomsday Device on Tomko for a near fall, but that would be as close as the former champions would get to regaining the gold. Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin would neutralize Devon with Poetry in Motion and some kicks, before Ray took them out. However, Tomko booted Ray halfway to the nearest Pizza Hut, then took out Devon with a lariat, hooking both legs to retain the titles. Winners: AJ Styles & Tomko.

Styles finally returns after the match ends, but Tomko piefaces him away as Christian Cage applauds.

Kurt Angle is not the only TNA personality on Pros vs. Joes. As the show begins, ref Rudy Charles is in the ring for a qualifying battle royal........
