| Detailed Results |
The evening begins with a recap of last week's key issues.
Jump cut to Jeremy Borash backstage outside Jim Cornette's
office. We see the Voodoo Kin Mafia in the background, and
off to the side is Mr. Bob Backlund. X Division champion Chris
Sabin, dressed up to look like Jerry Lynn, appears with a
walker, exaggerating the fact that Lynn is "old".
Jerry Lynn vs. Jay Lethal vs. Alex Shelley vs. Austin
Starr vs. Sonjay Dutt. As he arrives at ringside,
Shelley drops off a Paparazzi Productions DVD. Can't be anything
good. As usual, the match is way too short, given the quality
of the talent involved. Sabin comes out, sans walker, and
opens his bathrobe to reveal the X title wrapped around his
waist. Lynn goes for the cradle piledriver, but Sabin scoops
the leg out, and Starr covers for the pinfall. Post-match,
Starr, Sabin, & Shelley beat down Lynn until Senshi comes
racing out to make the save.Winner: "The" Austin
Starr.
The DVD contains a video of LAX entering an Italian restaurant
in West Islip, NY. One employee is singled out and attacked.
Reason? He's related to Team 3D's Brother Ray. Later in the
show, Brother Devon is interviewed. He's a man of few words,
but says that the 3D-LAX war has just gotten personal, and
it's now about respect. Meanwhile, Samoa Joe comes out for
a promo, to clarify his status for Against All Odds. Christian
Cage interrupts, continuing to stir the pot. Earlier, Cage
had sent Tomko off on an errand. Tomko is wearing a shirt
that reads, "Pump". Now, the pieces are coming together.
Tomko's been wearing shades, and bleached part of his beard.
Couple that with the shirt, and it means Scott Steiner is
the consultant. How lame is that?
Robert Roode (w/Ms. Brooks) vs. Petey Williams (w/Gail
Kim) When Team Canada was the dominant heel stable
in TNA, we wondered what might happen if its members eventually
had to wrestle each other. Roode's already had matches vs.
Eric Young, and wants "Showtime" aligned with him
again. This would've been something to see except for the
drama involving Williams' current feud with old foe James
Storm and his new valet Ms. Tennessee. Brooks tries to get
involved, but Kim pulls her off the apron and we have a fight
breaking out. Ref Rudy Charles pays more attention to the
catfight on the floor, allowing Storm to sneak in with a superkick,
enabling Roode to attain the pinfall. Winner: Robert Roode.Post-match,
Ms. Tennessee came down and it became 2-on-1 vs. Gail. Roode
& Storm doubled on Williams. Young comes charging out
and cleans house, even hitting a dropkick on Ms. Tennessee.
He hesitates to hit Brooks, which allows Roode to pull her
out. Roode berates Brooks again on the floor and pushes her.
Young sees this and attacks his former (and perhaps future)
teammate. Brooks leaves with Young, leaving Roode with a satisfied
smile on his face, perhaps knowing that the fly has fallen
into the spider's web.
Earlier, Borash did another report from backstage. Behind
him, Christy Hemme charged into Cornette's office, with VKM
following behind. Young came over, worried about last week's
misadventure getting out in the open. Storm & Ms. Tennessee
showed up to talk about their mixed tag vs. Williams &
Kim at Against All Odds, and Storm told Young it was too late.
The whole world knows about what happened. Basically, they're
playing Eric up as a naive virgin type.
James Mitchell had sent Abyss to hunt for Sting. Now, Mitchell
enters the Impact Zone alone and cuts a promo on Sting, demanding
to know if Sting will accept Mitchell & Abyss' challenge
for a Prison Yard Match at Against All Odds. Sting appears
in the rafters, an Abyss mask convienently concealing the
"burnt" part of his face. Sting says nothing.
Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles These two were in
a showcase feud at this time last year over the X title, so
we've come to expect something special. Not this time. Not
enough time was given to this match, either. Styles tried
the ol' fake knee injury routine again after getting dumped
over the top, but Rhino came charging out and threw Styles
back in. It soon turned into a double team on Styles, prompting
ref Andrew Thomas to call the match a No Contest. Rhino chased
Styles away to the back. Joe grabbed a chair and sat down,
calling for Cage to come down. As we go to our last break,
Kurt Angle blows by Laticia en route to the ring. Back from
break, and Kurt is already there. Another fight breaks out
between Joe & Kurt. What a shock. Cage takes advantage
of this and comes down with a chair. Joe ducks, and Angle
eats a chairshot to the head. Cage wants to shake hands with
Joe. Instead, Joe flips off Cage and attacks the champion,
locking on the Kokina Clutch until Styles returns. They beat
Joe down, then Angle is also taken out to end the in-ring
action before the "Adrenaline Rush" recap. Winner:
None. |
