Abyss vs. Chase Stevens.Abyss attacks before
Stevens can even finish removing his jacket. Total squash,
ending with a Black Hole Slam.Winner: Abyss. Post-match, Andy
Douglas comes down to try to help his partner, but is quickly
taken down with the Shock Treatment. Shane Douglas, the Naturals'
former manager, comes down, upset that Stevens is still wearing
the colors of the "Newly Franchised" Naturals, but
security cuts him off. Sting appears via videotape and answers
Mitchell's challenge to meet Abyss at Against All Odds in
a prison yard match. He's still wearing Abyss' black mask,
and he'll meet the man-monster face-to-face later.
Clips of Brother Devon's interview from last week and LAX's
attack on Brother Ray's uncle in West Islip are shown. Jump
cut back to the Impact Zone, where Ray cuts a promo. He reveals
his mother's last name (and his real one) is Lomonico, and
his father's last name is, of course, Dudley. Hmmm. Maybe
WWE is letting the copyright lapse on the Dudley Boyz name?
Anyway, Ray challenges LAX to a Little Italy Streetfight at
the PPV. Konnan, in a wheelchair and aided by Moody Jack Melendez,
accepts the challenge on behalf of the tag champs. Brother
Runt comes out, which upsets Ray, but it leads to Homicide
& Hotstuff Hernandez attacking Team 3D and leaving them
lying. Ray is choked out and has his hand smashed between
the ring and the steps with a steel chair.
Backstage stuff includes Laticia interviewing Samoa Joe &
Kurt Angle, who face Christian Cage & AJ Styles in the
main event. Kurt's finally convinced that Joe isn't Cage's
consultant. Well, duh! Laticia also chats up Christy Hemme,
but is interrupted by Kip James, who's offering Christy money
for some reason. BG James is upset, and mentions that his
wife & kids watch Impact. He leaves Kip behind to continue,
but the girls leave while Kip is counting his money. Jeremy
Borash finds Eric Young with Traci Brooks. Traci thanks Eric
for helping her last week, and leaves him with a kiss. Borash
interviewed Styles and Cage, and later Dale Torborg &
AJ Pierzynski of the Chicago White Sox. NY Yankees outfielder
Johnny Damon, who was in the audience last week, smacked Torborg
in the back with a chair. This after Damon had been at Raw
a few weeks back. Cage told Tomko, who was wielding a lead
pipe, to take the night off, as the problem solver was frustrated
dealing with the "consultant".
Jerry Lynn, Senshi, & Rhino vs. James Storm (w/Jacqueline
Moore), "The" Austin Starr, and Chris Sabin.
Typical 6-man match, but as per usual, way too short. The
finish saw Senshi go up top, presumably for the Warrior's
Way on Starr, but Storm cut him off and pushed him off. Starr
then hit the brainbuster and floated into the cover.Winners:
James Storm, "The" Austin Starr, and Chris Sabin.
Now, Ron Killings is supposedly in "Rocky VII".
We get the joke, and it's not funny! Bob Backlund made an
appearance backstage after Borash had interviewed Styles &
Cage, but said nothing. He just flipped the lenses of his
glasses up and stared at Borash. Kevin Nash is promising persona
makeovers for Jay Lethal & Sonjay Dutt, and pulls out
Samoa Joe & Sting action figures. There's a joke somewhere,
but I couldn't find it.
Sting came out and brought the cage down from the rafters.
Somehow, Jim Mitchell had time to change outfits, because
he was beaten down and dressed in jeans. Abyss came out and
there was a short brawl. Abyss got control. Mitchell took
off his belt and choked out Sting while Abyss used a chair.
The camera cut away so you couldn't see that the chair never
really hit Sting. I believe this might've been taped out of
sequence.
AJ Styles & Christian Cage vs. Kurt Angle &
Samoa Joe. This match saved the show from being a
total washout. The two teams brawled at the start, and it
was pretty even from that point onward. While the referee
was busy trying to separate Joe & Cage in one corner,
Styles hit the Pele kick on Angle, then went upstairs, presumably
for a frogsplash attempt. Rhino came back out and cut him
off, allowing Angle to hit a top rope Olympic Slam to end
it.Winners: Kurt Angle & Samoa Joe. Post-match, a masked
man hit the ring and attacked first Rhino, then Joe, and finally
Angle. It was revealed to be, yes, Scott Steiner, hired as
the consultant to Cage. The faces were left lying to end the
show. |
