We open tonight with a video highlight package from Destination X, punctuated by a quote from legendary British statesman Winston Churchill. In the ring, Jim Cornette, alone for a change, welcomes us to the program, and announces the double main event for Lockdown on April 13. Samoa Joe faces Kurt Angle for the TNA World title, and there will be the annual Lethal Lockdown match. Christian Cage and Tomko are the team captains. Given an opportunity, Cage cuts a promo on Tomko, and while Tomko believes he is his own man, Cage sees him as a lapdog for Angle, and calls him a b**ch. That sets off a brief scrum, leading to AJ Styles and Kevin Nash coming out for their respective partners. Meanwhile, Karen Angle is taking the rear entrance into the arena. After Kurt gets done with his match, Karen tells Jeremy Borash, she plans on confronting her husband about their issues.
Crystal is with Scott Steiner, Rocka Khan, & Petey Williams. Williams is in our first match, attempting to qualify for the X division Xcape match at Lockdown. Steiner talks about controlling the landscape of TNA. What? Does he think this is WCW, 2000-01? He wants Williams to step up and perform well, else there will be an initiation. Survivor: Micronesia contestant Joel Anderson is in the house.
Match 1: Petey Williams (w/Rocka Khan) vs. Curry Man (Xcape qualifier) Under better circumstances, this would be a potential match of the night. In TNA, that is nearly impossible. However, the combatants make the most of the time allotted to them. Curry hits a crossbody block, dubbed the High C, but Khan has ref Earl Hebner distracted. Curry sees this and decides to do his dance for her. He sidesteps Williams, who avoids the collision and sets up the Canadian Destroyer, but Curry sends him crashing into Khan and hits a Northern Lights suplex for the pin. Winner: Curry Man. Post-match, Steiner came out with a hood and handcuffs, both for Williams. The initiation is about to begin. Jeremy Borash is with Jim Cornette. He asks Christian Cage to find a partner (forgot about Nash, didn't you?) for later vs. Styles & Tomko. Team 3D entered. The stip about them leaving has been retconned out, it seems. Ray cuts a promo on the Motor City Machine Guns, Shark Boy, Curry Man, and "reality TV stars" (Joel Anderson & Johnny Fairplay), promising to take them out during the evening. A video package plays for Samoa Joe, hyping his title match vs. Kurt Angle at Lockdown.
Now, Samoa Joe makes his way out to the ring, looking dapper in a dark suit. Joe gives his props to Kevin Nash and the TNA fans for their support, and cuts a promo on Kurt Angle. However, he also makes a very telling pledge. He guarantees that he will win the title at Lockdown, but if he doesn't, it'll be his last match in TNA.
Crystal is with Christian Cage, who tries recruiting Rhino to be his partner (I guess Nash isn't able to wrestle unless he's the last resort). Rhino, apparently, isn't interested.
Match 2: Black Reign & Rellik vs. the Motor City Machine Guns Suddenly, Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin's stock in the tag division has plunged. Never mind the commercial break, all that did was disguise the fact that this was a protracted squash. Rellik & Shelley started, and Shelley was totally obliterated until a hot tag to Sabin. They had the man-monsters on the ropes, figuratively anyway, even borrowing a variation on the Hardy Boys' fabled Poetry in Motion. However, Shelley takes one risk too many and takes a spill over the top. That leaves Sabin all alone to eat a Snake Eyes from Reign and the Sickle from Rellik. Winners: Black Reign & Rellik. Post-match, Reign calls out Eric Young, who adopted a superhero persona at Destination X. Young comes out in his new guise as Super Eric, and chases out Reign & Rellik. Jeremy Borash faciliates a meeting between Karen Angle and AJ Styles. Hold the mush, please! Karen leaves, and Tomko shows up, pissed. He wants Styles to get his head back in the game, not in his rear, shall we say.
Match 3: Kurt Angle vs. Kaz (non-title) A few months back, this was a main event match, and Kaz took Angle to the limit and beyond. Tonight, it was more of the same, in half the time. They went back and forth, and then Kaz went to work. He hit a slingshot DDT for 2. He hit the Wave of the Future for 2. He hit an overhead version of the Wave for 2. Finally, Angle clamped on the anklelock, and promptly grapevined the leg. Kaz struggled for a moment or two before finally tapping. Winner: Kurt Angle. Post-match, Angle cut a counter-promo on Samoa Joe, telling Joe to train as hard as he needs to, because he wants Joe at his best at Lockdown. Karen comes out and tells Kurt she wants a separation. Kurt thinks that's a great idea. He can concentrate on Joe while Karen takes care of the kids. Karen isn't digging her husband's misplaced priorities and leaves, upset.
TNA Rough Cut, part 2 with BG & Kip James. Brian opens up about how he was cut by WWE 6 years ago, and went through a faith-based rehab program. Kip came along 4 years later, and there was a lot of pressure on them to click again as a team. This continues next week. Crystal is with the Rock & Rave Infection. Lance Hoyt is wearing a top hat and a curly wig, trying to pass himself off as Slash. Jimmy Rave has the delusion working, but I'm not sure who he's supposed to be. An old score is being settled in our next match.....
Match 4: Rock & Rave Infection (Lance Hoyt, Christy Hemme, & Jimmy Rave) vs. LAX (Hernandez, Salinas, & Homicide) It was just a couple of months ago that these two teams met on PPV, and Salinas was unmasked as a supposed male member of the Latino Nation. She had her first match since then last week, losing to Awesome Kong, but tonight she gets to settle things with Christy once and for all. It starts with the men, and I take back what I said about Hoyt and the hair. It wasn't a wig. Anyway, Hernandez wipes out Hoyt with a suicide dive. Homicide with a Gringo (Diamond) Cutter on Rave. Gringo Killa is blocked, and Rave tags in Hemme. Salinas tags herself in, and hits an inverted DDT on Hemme, but gets only 2 before Hoyt pulls ref Mark Johnson out of the ring. That allows Hemme to grab one of the toy guitars and clank it on the back of Salinas' head for the cheap pin. Winners: Rock & Rave Infection. Jay Lethal & So Cal Val are touring the Universal Studios theme park. In time, they run into Sonjay Dutt, who takes Val for another tour, through areas she might have missed, although Black Machismo doesn't think so. Uh-oh! Angelina Love & Velvet Sky wanted to give Roxxi Laveaux a makeover, but instead it turns out the girls are turning heel on the voodoo spraying her in the eyes, and beating her down so they can complete their work. Jeremy Borash is with Gail Kim, who cuts a promo on Awesome Kong, warning the women's champion that their issue is far from settled.
Match 5: Gail Kim vs. Velvet Sky (w/Angelina Love) Pretty even women's match. Velvet was the aggressor early on, hoping for the upset, but it just wasn't to be. Despite Angelina's attempts to distract ref Earl Hebner, Velvet just wasn't meant to be a winner. Gail hit the Emerald Frosien (Celtic Cross) for the win. Winner: Gail Kim. Post-match, Angelina confronted Gail, and that started a fresh round of hostilities. Velvet recovered and made it 2-on-1. Kim wanted to retreat, then found herself ambushed by Awesome Kong. Back in the ring, Kong tried the Awesome Bomb, but Gail escaped and turned the attack on the champion. Raisha Saeed hit Gail with the belt, and now it was another 2-on-1 before ODB, wielding a chair, hit the ring. Crystal is with Christian Cage, but before he can say anything, he's joined by Kevin Nash, who's wondering why Cage didn't come to him in the first place. I guess we knew all along who was going to be Cage's partner, didn't we?
Match 6: AJ Styles & Tomko vs. Kevin Nash & Christian Cage (non-title) Cage was in most of the way, and thus was the face in peril. Before the break, Kurt Angle came back out, and, as documented after the break, distracted Cage long enough for Tomko to get the advantage. However, the champion didn't stick around too long, as Jim Cornette came out and had Angle ejected. Cage finally made a hot tag to Nash, who cleaned house. Styles had a moment of stupidity, thinking he could hit the Styles Clash on the 7' Nash, who simply countered out. Tomko was low-bridged over the top. Nash with the Jackknife on Styles, followed by a frogsplash from Cage. Tomko pulled the ref out of the ring. Team 3D came out and engaged Cage & Nash, prompting the ref to call for the bell. Winners: Kevin Nash & Christian Cage via DQ. It turned into a 4-on-2 beatdown, and it's clear that Team 3D will join the tag champs in Lethal Lockdown. But that's not all. Ray & Devon confronted Joel Anderson and beat him up, too, to end the show, while Styles & Tomko have a few laughs.
