Homicide (w/LAX) vs. Brother Devon (w/Bro. Ray) vs.
Scott Steiner Triple threat opener provides a preview
of the 3-way tag title match at Sacrifice, but it also sets
an unpleasant tone for the evening. Steiner & Homicide
took turns taking shots at Devon early, but then Homicide
decided to take a shot at Steiner. Steiner no-sold a forearm
shiver, and engaged Homicide in combat. That gave Devon time
to recover, and after Steiner was dismissed, it came down
to Devon & Homicide. While Machete diistracted the ref,
Hotstuff Hernandez snuck in and hit the Border Toss, enabling
Homicide to pin Devon while Steiner & Ray were brawling.
Steiner started throwing chairs into the ring as the former
champs made good their escape. No Tomko, and one has to assume
he was in Japan when this was taped. Winner: Homicide.
Jeremy Borash is about to interview Christy Hemme when Steiner
shows up to vent about losing the last match. He said Tomko
& Christian Cage suck. What a shock. Steiner leaves, and
Christy finally shows up, followed by the Voodoo Kin Mafia.
Christy had an announcement, but it's going to be made in
the ring......
Back from break, and Christy has led VKM right into a trap.
Damaja (Danny Hollie, nee Basham) and (Doug) Basham ambush
VKM and lay them out with chair shots. Christy officially
introduces her new charges to Kip, and slaps him.
JB is with "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt,
& Kevin Nash. Lethal & Dutt are to challenge Chris
Sabin for the X title, but it doesn't look like they're on
the same page. Before they came out, Mr. Bob Backlund complained
about Sabin & Alex Shelley stealing his book. It's not
good to make Mr. Backlund mad, but you'd think Shelley &
Sabin would've learned that by now.......
Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin vs. Jay Lethal &
Sonjay Dutt. Nash stays backstage, but Lethal &
Dutt could've used him as a buffer. Lethal is so absorbed
into his new gimmick, it's scary. Dutt's new shirt is a ripoff
of the San Diego Padres' logo. Wonder if marketing knows about
this? Shelley & Sabin looked pretty tight as a team, perhaps
future champions. I think they might've gotten that kind of
push in Ring of Honor if TNA didn't suddenly decide to pull
them out of the latter promotion. Dutt looked like he had
things under control, but when Lethal went for the flying
elbow, Dutt waved him off. Big mistake. Shelley & Sabin
regained control, and Shelley won it with the Emerald Fusion
(Fit Finlay's Celtic Cross for you Smackdown fans).Winners:
Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin.
James Storm (w/Jackie Moore), Christopher Daniels,
& AJ Styles vs. Rhino, Samoa Joe, & Chris Harris (w/Gail
Kim). Not my idea of an ideal main event. Storm just
doesn't have that kind of presence to warrant being in this
spot, yet he keeps winning. Every time Harris tagged in, Storm
would bail like a coward. Turning point of the match came
when Moore tried to throw the beer bottle in. Harris caught
it. Ref Earl Hebner tried to stop him, but all that led to
was Storm schoolboying Harris with a handful of tights. Another
tainted win. Post-match, Harris chased Storm into the crowd,
and forced Storm to jump over the barricade and to the floor,
about a half-dozen rows up the bleachers, from the look of
it. Winners: James Storm, Christopher Daniels, & AJ Styles.
Show ended with Sting & Kurt Angle brawling into the Impact
Zone as Christian Cage looks on with a smirk on his face.
He thinks it's going to be so easy on Sunday. |
