Robert Roode def. Jerry Lynn
Gail Kim def. Miss Brooks
King of the Mountain Qualifier: Chris
Storm vs James Harris goto a double countout |
|
|
| Detailed Results |
Robert Roode (w/Ms. Brooks) vs. Jerry Lynn.
Decent opener. The size difference between the two is offset
with the equal disparity in experience, which swings in Lynn's
favor. Unfortunately, Roode also has the x factor in Brooks,
who distracts ref Earl Hebner long enough to allow Roode to
use a low blow to set up the Payoff, which is now a fisherman's
suplex instead of a neckbreaker.
Winner: Robert Roode.st-match, Roode talks trash at his fallen
opponent, but Eric Young, whom he'll face at Slammiversary
in 10 days, comes running down with a chair and chases Roode
& Brooks out of the ring. However, Roode leaves Brooks
behind to get caught by Young. Lynn has recovered and holds
Brooks for a chair shot, but Jim Cornette will have none of
that. Sensitive to recent criticism about male-on-female violence
(from Spike TV), Cornette decides that while Lynn & Young
can't touch Brooks-----Gail Kim can, and Brooks will face
her tonight!
Tomko arrives and tells Letitia that Christian Cage "changed
his phone number", making it impossible for Tomko to
contact him. Meanwhile, in a pre-recorded segment, Mike Tenay
interviews Sting & Christopher Daniels. More of the same
double-talk from Daniels. Sting is trying to teach him one
way, but Daniels is going in the opposite direction. Paparazzi
Productions presents the continuing makeover of Sonjay Dutt,
who now is to be known as "The Guru". Jay Lethal
must've gotten smacked upside the head, since all "Black
Machismo" wants is a shot at Jake "The Snake"
Roberts, and that ain't happening.
Gail Kim vs. Ms. Brooks. Pre-match, Brooks
ambushed Gail backstage and security had to pull them apart.
Brooks never bothered to change into more suitable attire,
and that's a mistake. Whenever she has an advantage, Brooks
plays to the crowd and takes a couple of bows, celebrating
a little too prematurely. Sloppy & spotty, in other words,
no different than a typical women's match over in WWE. Brooks
has Kim set up for a DVD, it would appear, but Gail swings
around and hits a sunset flip for the pinfall. Winner: Gail
Kim.
Jeremy Borash tries to interview AJ Styles, but Kurt Angle
interrupts and gives him the same message that he gave Samoa
Joe last week. Next thing you know, as they start again, Cage
emerges from behind a door and pulls Styles inside. Later,
Tomko catches up to Cage, and Cage weasels out of this predicament
by reminding Tomko of how they came together in the first
place. Promos back & forth between Team 3D & the Steiners
to set up their match. Unfortunately, due to Scott Steiner's
injury last weekend, that dream match is now in jeopardy.
Chris Harris vs. James Storm (w/Jackie Moore)(King
of the Mountain qualifier). A spectacular brawl that
barely was contested inside the ring. Ref Rudy Charles let
them go at it and use whatever weapons they could find, considering
the stakes involved. Tables, chairs, trash cans all came into
play. The finale was Harris spearing Storm through a wall
in the crowd. We saw something similar to that last year involving
Rhino & Abyss. Charles was left with no choice but to
count them both out. As he counts, Angle & Joe show up
and start brawling and have to be restrained. Winner: None.
Double countout.
In Cornette's office, Cage & Tomko are looking for the
identity of Cage's opponent for next week, but Cornette leaves
them---and the audience---hanging just a wee bit longer. |
