Three weeks into the HD Era, and Smackdown finally has a new opening sequence. The show proper begins with Michael Cole in the ring to interview Batista. Basically the same topic as last week, the Elimination Chamber, but Cole paints a better word picture than rookie reporter Eve Torres. Batista gives the same answer as last week, that his past experience in the chamber gives him an advantage. MVP comes out and starts talking smack until Batista tells him he's getting beaten up, specifically for what happened to Ric Flair last week. Jon Coachman thought MVP was on a hot streak? Two losses don't mean a guy's hot. That's what happens when you spend too much time hanging around the NY Knicks, Coach! Big Daddy V is next, with Matt Striker touting the big man. Great Khali & Ranjin Singh, and Finlay & Hornswoggle follow, leaving Undertaker to simply make a dramatic appearance under the cover of darkness, prompting the heels to scatter like scared children.

This year's Wrestlemania theme is "Snow (Hey Oh)" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers from their 2006 CD, "Stadium Arcanum".

Match 1: Kane vs. Shelton Benjamin Return match from the 1/29 ECW show. Benjamin gets no entrance, and is already in the ring as we come back from break. Not a good sign. Cole flubs claiming that Benjamin has never wrestled on Smackdown. Huh? Were those two tag titles with Charlie Haas in 2003 a mirage, Michael? Pretty much the same match as last week, but this time Benjamin has added the blockbuster somersault neckbreaker off the top to his arsenal. All that gets him is a 2 count. The battle spills to the floor again, and the two climb back to the apron. Shel gets all the way to the top at 8, and Kane punches him back into the ring, costing Big Red the match! Winner: Shelton Benjamin via countout.

Match 2: Chuck Palumbo vs. Jamie Noble (w/Michelle McCool) After four losses to Noble, Palumbo has gone way off the deep end, frustrated by the losing and the jealousy. He parks his bike right in front of "Sign Guy" Rick Achbarger, as if that really means anything. A little more even this time, as opposed to previous meetings, as Jamie tries to ground his larger opponent. However, one fatal mistake costs him the match. Jamie goes up top, hoping to take Palumbo out on the floor, but Chuck appears to pull something from the underside of the bike, and uses it to knock Noble gut-first into the bike. Back inside, Palumbo hits the Full Throttle, and that's all. Winner: Chuck Palumbo.

Post-match, Palumbo continues the assault, culminating in a 2nd Full Throttle, this time on the barrier. Michelle is pleading with Palumbo to stop, but Chuck, bringing the crazy, keeps screaming at her that it's her fault.

Match 3: Jesse & Festus vs. Deuce 'N' Domino (w/Cherry) It's "Biscuits & Gravy" time, and time also to welcome back head referee Nick Patrick, back from the disabled list. Total squash. Festus comes out wearing a paper bag over his head, but basically, it's the same deal. Docile pre-match, but when the bell rings, he's flat berserk, moreso than ever, really. Domino takes advantage of a brief distraction by Cherry, but it's quickly wasted as Festus finishes him with the F5. Winners: Jesse & Festus.

Now, it's time for the Cutting Edge. The World Champ's guest tonight is his girlfriend-du-jour/co-conspirator, Vicki Guerrero. He promises to ask her a very important question next week (one guess, pilgrims), but tonight, he's calling out Rey Mysterio, demanding an apology for what happened at the Royal Rumble. Hey, you two clowns brought it upon yourselves. Rey comes out, but Vicki slaps him twice before he can even start to tell his side. He blocks a 3rd attempt, allowing Edge to attack. Edge dodges the 619, and avoids a collision with Vicki, who for some reason still needs a wheelchair. If anyone can explain why she has this, please tell me, and we'll both know! Edge grabs two chairs from ringside, but there won't be a con-chair-to tonight. Rey dropkicks one chair into Edge, and hits the 619 this time. Mysterio then comes off the apron with a seated senton, knocking Edge to the desk. Coach claims Rey's made a mistake. No, Coach. Vicki made a mistake with her actions at the Rumble. Vicki gets the apology she wanted, but the anger created by her lover blinds her to the truth even further.

Cole & Coach run down the No Way Out card.

Raw Rebound: Hornswoggle takes a bite out of Mr. McMahon.

Eve Torres interviews Edge. She's figured it out, but Edge is annoyed and tells her to find out next week what the question is going to be.

Match 4: Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins vs. Shannon Moore & Jimmy Wang Yang Return match from last week. It wasn't that long ago that Moore & Yang were challenging for the tag team titles, but now they've been dropped to the middle of the pack after losing to Miz & Morrison. Same deal as last week, but shorter. Heat on Yang, hot tag to Moore, but this time, not as much offense for the "Reject". Ryder pins him after the elevated inverted DDT. Winners: Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins.

Match 5: Great Khali (w/Ranjin Singh), Big Daddy V (w/Matt Striker), & Montel V. Porter vs. Batista, Finlay (w/Hornswoggle), & Undertaker Elimination Chamber preview, as all 6 men in the Smackdown Chamber are in our main event. The introductions take up nearly 10 minutes by themselves. After a commercial, we pick up the action with Khali in control vs. Finlay. It goes back and forth from there until the next commercial, at which point the face in peril is now the Deadman. Batista didn't get all that much ring time, in retrospect. The heat goes back on Finlay as Hornswoggle tries to get the crowd into it. MVP misses an ole kick in the corner, enabling Finlay to tag out back to Undertaker, who blasts MVP with a series of freight train clotheslines in the corner, then a snake eyes and a boot to the face. It falls apart from there, as all 6 men get involved. Batista spears Big Daddy, only to get chopped in the head by Khali. Finlay KOs Khali with the shillelagh behind the back of ref Jim Corderas, who has lost control of the match anyway, and throws it out. Winners: None. Match declared no contest.
