We open with a recap of last week's match between Bobby Lashley
& Hardcore Holly, including the ECW debut of Gene Snitsky
after the match.
Bobby Lashley vs. Hardcore Holly [Extreme Rules Match]
With Holly injured, you'd think they'd at least throw him
a bone and have him challenge for the title, considering he
beat former champ Rob Van Dam 2 weeks ago. Not this time.
Maybe beneath that tough exterior, Holly's as unselfish as
they come after all. As he did last week, he took it to Lashley,
but strangely, after the champ set up a table at ringside,
Holly took it down and put it away, remembering what had happened
to him vs. Van Dam back in November. As it was, the table
never came into play, even after Lashley got it back out near
the end of the match. Lashley hit the torture rack backbreaker
(Shock Treatment) for 2. Holly set up for the Alabama Slam,
but Lashley countered out and hit the running powerslam onto
a chair for the win.Winner: Bobby Lashley.
Kevin Thorn (w/Ariel) & Marcus Cor Van vs. Tommy
Dreamer & the Sandman. A fan actually had a "Monty
Brown" sign at ringside when the Alpha Male made his
way out. Dreamer & Sandman were all but squashed, getting
little offense in. Sandman got in the White Russian Legsweep,
but it left him vulnerable to Thorn using his walking stick
to put the Hardcore Icon away. As Tazz pointed out, however,
Sandman's shoulders were not down for the three, something
that Armstrong failed to notice. Winners: Kevin Thorn &
Marcus Cor Van
CM Punk vs. Mike Knox.Knox spent the last
couple of months back at Deep South waiting for the opportunity
to return and finish his business with Punk. Unfortunately,
he still hasn't figured out how to beat Punk, but he did take
the fight to him a lot harder than he did the last time. Knox
must've gone to the Hardcore Holly Dropkick Academy, because
he unleashed a big one on Punk for 2. That seemed to be CM's
wakeup call, however, as Mr. Straight Edge got back in gear,
and eventually locked on the Anaconda Vice. Knox tapped out
after less than a minute.Winner: CM Punk. Post-match, Snitsky
appeared and destroyed Punk. Maybe it's the new bald look,
but his head looks puffier than it did before.
Smackdown GM Teddy Long is in the house, visiting with Lashley,
who will return to Smackdown one more time on Friday. Part
2 of the series on Lashley airs.
Matt Striker & Elijah Burke vs. Sabu & Rob
Van Dam.Common sense says this should've resulted
in a split between the New Breed & the Originals. Unfortunately,
common sense isn't welcome in the realm of Vince McMahon,
who lost his marbles a long time ago. Anyway, this was a better
match than you'd think. Just didn't like the finish. RVD set
up for Rolling Thunder and tagged in Sabu. While Van Dam is
in motion, Striker pulls Sabu off the apron. Van Dam hits
Rolling Thunder anyway, then goes after Striker with a pescado
over the top. Sabu tries the springboard moonsault, but Burke
gets his legs on the bottom rope to block the move. A knee
to the back and a handful of tights give the New Breed another
win. Winners: Matt Striker & Elijah Burke. Cor Van, Ariel,
& Thorn came back out post-match to celebrate with the
winners at the end of the show. |
