| Detailed Results |
Tonight's program begins with a recap of the ECW title match
two days ago at No Way Out. Mr. Kennedy gets another crack
at Bobby Lashley, but this time, it's a triple threat, with
Hardcore Holly dealt into the mix despite two non-title losses
in as many weeks. The New Breed is out to start the show proper.
Elijah Burke & Matt Striker do the talking, and choose
Kevin Thorn to represent in singles competition. The Originals
come down and answer with.....Rob. Van. Dam.
Kevin Thorn vs. Rob Van Dam. This was in
essence a make-good for RVD, who lost last night on Raw to
Edge. Really couldn't see RVD losing via screwjob two nights
in a row. The teams brawled on the floor before the break,
and after commercial, only Ariel was left on the floor, with
the other non-participants ejected. Thorn gained a brief advantage
thanks to Ariel, but wasted it. Van Dam came back strong and
took to the air. He hit a flying thrust kick off the top,
but a cross body block was botched because Thorn was out of
position. After the windmill kick, Van Dam hit the 5-Star
Frogsplash to put the first chink in the New Breed's armor.
Winner: Rob Van Dam.
Money in the Bank Qualifier: CM Punk vs. Johnny Nitro
(w/Melina). After seeing his lady fair win the WWE
women's title last night, could Nitro continue the momentum?
Nope. It was a pretty even match, and Melina's interference
was kept to a minimum. Still wish they could get rid of the
primal scream. Nitro hit the Thomas Flare spinning legdrop
for 2, but the cameras wasted time paying attention to Melina.
Their loss. Punk was hung on the rope and Nitro hit a spinning
kick for two. However, Nitro missed the Sky Twister moonsault
(apparently he was watching Jimmy Wang Yang crash & burn
on Sunday), and Punk capitalized with a fireman's carry into
a high knee to the head. End of story.Winnner: CM Punk.
La Resistance vs. "Los Luchas".In
the time it takes for Sylvain Grenier & Rene Dupree's
picture-in-picture promo to air, the match is over. Total
squash. Winners: La Resistance. Post-match, Gene Snitsky came
out and destroyed the jobbers with kicks, then acted confused
as if they were supposed to get up.
Bobby Lashley vs. Mr. Kennedy vs. Hardcore Holly [ECW
World Championship Match] Earlier, Kennedy was interviewed
by Rebecca and questioned why Holly was added to the match.
Speaks for all of us, considering Holly had lost two previous
meetings with Lashley. At first, the two challengers played
"Can You Top This?", taking turns on the champ,
but then Lashley asserted himself. Holly hit the Alabama Slam,
but Kennedy pulled ref Scott Armstrong out of the ring, safe
in knowing that this was No-DQ this time. Unfortunately, it
was the beginning of the end for Kennedy. A chair shot meant
for Lashley KOd Holly instead, and Kennedy then walked right
into a running powerslam for the finish.Winner: Bobby Lashley. |
