We open with a recap of Hard Justice, including the predictable result to the Winner-Take-All match. Like, you had to have seen it coming, even if you were blind. There's a red carpet set up outside the Impact Zone. Jeremy Borash talks to Eric Young, who wants the autograph of Adam "Pacman" Jones. Kurt Angle shows up, and promises an awards ceremony, which they're touting as the "1st annual Angle Awards". Hello? They did something similar a few weeks back, when Kurt awarded himself a bunch of awards. Now, it's going to be for his latest scam. In the ring, Mike Tenay interviews Pacman. A lot of blather, really. Pacman already has his own pyro, logo, and entrance music. Ron Killings shows up, and denies attacking Pacman @ Hard Justice. They form an alliance, forming a tag team. They start up the ramp when Young meets them, hoping to get the autograph. Pacman makes like he will, but Killings drops Young with a forearm shiver to the back. Young goes down in a heap. In Jim Cornette's office, the de-facto commissioner refers to Pacman & the Truth as a couple of cashews. Triple X comes in. Christopher Daniels is hot because he has a #1 contender's match for the X title now held by Kurt Angle. It's because Jay Lethal pinned Daniels on Sunday. Triple X leaves and the Christian Coalition comes in. Christian Cage doesn't want any more of Abyss after Hard Justice, but Cornette manages to change his mind when he tells him Abyss is willing to put up his #1 contendership vs. Cage in a 1st blood match. Cage accepts the match. Back to the red carpet, and Karen Angle arrives, in full drama queen mode, with "family friend" Trademark (no, not John Cena's cousin/sidekick). More bragging, which must run in the family. To make matters worse, Karen has taken out "an order of protection" against Samoa Joe. I don't get why, after not being a part of her husband's storylines during his near 7 years with WWE, that Karen would be a party to this madness.
Match 1: Christopher Daniels (w/Senshi & Elix Skipper) vs. Jay Lethal (w/Sonjay Dutt) (#1 contender's match for the X title) By all rights, they shouldn't even bother, and have Daniels jump to the head of the line and challenge the Olympic Hypocrite, but it no longer matters here. Very good opener. After the commercial break, Senshi & Skipper become more involved, but their interference ultimately backfires. It gets to the point where Dutt actually comes in to cut off Senshi, then avoids contact with Daniels and hits a plancha on Senshi & Skipper. Daniels is upset and walks right into the Lethal Combination. Ballgame. Winner: Jay Lethal. Borash is now on the red carpet with Kevin Nash, who's not really a shrink, but they're at least giving him something to do. Some crack about German snuff films, which probably goes over the heads of just about everyone.
Pacman & the Truth are in Cornette's office, demanding a tag title match. Cornette takes it under advisement, and has bodyguard Matt Morgan show them out. Now, it's time for the celebration of selfishness known as the Angle Awards. Feel free to yawn to your heart's content. They're hyping a "action short" starring Kurt Angle on the TNA website. Please. Stop feeding this clown's ego already! Karen, Nash, & Trademark get their awards. Karen cuts a promo on Samoa Joe. Jim Cornette & Matt Morgan come out. They did some editing here. Cornette congratulates Angle when he should've rightfully been within his rights to strip the greedy champion of all the gold for what happened. Instead, Angle will have to wrestle 3 times at No Surrender. Defending the X title vs. Jay Lethal. Defending the World title vs. either Abyss or Christian Cage. Defending the tag titles with a partner to be named vs. Pacmam and the Truth. Kurt goes berserk. Morgan sees his first action since coming in and shoves Kurt away from Cornette. As security holds Morgan back, Karen gets in a cheap slap in the face. Tenay tells us Samoa Joe has arrived as we go to break.....
Borash shills for TNA mobile and interviews Christian Cage, who whines about being the "real World champ". Samoa Joe appears and rips into Cage. Sounds like the start of a program....
Match 2: Abyss vs. Christian Cage (1st blood-#1 contender's match) For all of Cage's whining, it would be in his best interests to win the match by himself, but no. He has to have Tomko & AJ Styles help him, as usual. Tomko came down before the break, and during the break, handed Cage a screwdriver. Referee Andrew Thomas, knowing the past history between Abyss and the Christian Coalition, ejected Tomko immediately. No matter how hard he tried, Cage couldn't draw blood on the man-monster. Abyss failed to connect with the chokeslam on two attempts. Cage was thwarted on the Unprettier. Abyss tried and failed twice with the Shock Treatment. Styles came down and pulled a barbed wire-covered baseball bat out from under the ring. Samoa Joe came out and chased Styles away. He then got on the apron and took the bat from Cage, then waffled him with a chair. Joe then tossed the chair to Abyss to finish the job. One last chair shot finished Cage. Winner: Abyss. Post-match, the Angles came down, and Kurt ambushed Abyss with a chop block, followed by a series of chair shots. He handed the chair to Karen, but Cornette appeared on the video screen. Next week, Angle must face the Steiners in a handicap match. If he loses, Karen is stuck in the ring all alone for 5:00 with the Steiners!!!
