We start with highlights from No Surrender, specifically Kurt Angle's three title defenses. He goes home with just the TNA & IWGP titles.Jeremy Borash meets the Christian Coalition as they arrive. Christian Cage cuts a promo on both Samoa Joe & Matt Morgan, and says something about finding another Samoan to embarass. Karen Angle is the first out in the Impact Zone. She feigned being slapped at No Surrender, and Kurt bought into her lies, turning on Sting and gift-wrapping the tag titles to Ron Killings and Adam "Pacman" Jones. Karen won't admit the truth. She introduces Kurt, but gets Sting instead. Kurt shows up and nails Sting with a chair. Sting is dragged into the ring and handcuffed to the bottom rope. Kurt cuts a promo on him and has Karen slap the Stinger twice. It'll be Sting-Angle II at Bound For Glory next month. JB is backstage and interviews Abyss, who faces Angle in a cage later. If Abyss taps, he leaves TNA. Abyss, however, promises doomsday for Angle.
Match 1: Black Reign vs. Shark Boy Squashola! Shark Boy never had a chance. Reign debuted a running Ace Crusher (Stunner), and a corkscrew suplex he calls the Schizophrenic. Winner: Black Reign. Post-match, Reign took the cane he brought with him and nailed Shark Boy in the head. He unmasked Shark Boy and went to put his pet rat Misty into the mask before Eric Young, towel in hand, made the save, and got Shark Boy out. Crystal is TNA's new backstage reporter, and I've had her confused with Letitia the last couple of weeks. Anyway, she's with Team Pacman, who face AJ Styles & Tomko at Bound For Glory. Pacman Jones gives a shout out to his mates on the Tennessee Titans, as he's counting the days to his NFL return.
Match 2: Jay Lethal (w/Sonjay Dutt) vs. Christopher Daniels (w/Senshi & Elix Skipper)(non-title) So far, your match of the night. Return match from last month. Daniels threw everything but the kitchen sink at Lethal, who just kept coming back. Several near-falls for both sides, and Lethal even kicked out of the Best Moonsault Ever. Daniels set that up with an uranage, but couldn't close the deal. After using the ropes to block the Lethal Combination, Daniels took the X champ to the center of the ring and finished him with the Last Rites. Winner: Christopher Daniels. The Fallen Angel, then, has reclaimed his #1 contender's status, and a title match is nigh, but perhaps not at Bound For Glory. That's because Jim Cornette has booked Triple X vs. LAX in an Ultimate X match. Remember, Daniels won the last Ultimate X match. Also at Bound for Glory will be a 10 woman battle royal and a 15-man "Fight For Your Right" match, with the last 4 men going at it for a title shot. Back from break, and we have a summit meeting of sorts between the Christian Coalition and Matt Morgan, Cornette's bodyguard. Cage whines and cries about nearly getting killed at No Surrender. Oh, sure, he won by DQ, but that's not good enough for this self-serving jackass. Threatened, Morgan peels off the jacket, shirt, and sunglasses. Samoa Joe shows up to even the sides and clear the decks. Morgan reveals that he will be the special enforcer for Joe-Cage II at Bound For Glory. One other thing. Jim Cornette brings out Cage's opponent for next week, a man Cage knows pretty well----Junior Fatu, formerly known as Rikishi!
Match 3: Kurt Angle vs. Abyss (non-title cage match) It's billed as a submission match. As noted earlier, if Abyss taps out, he's gone. It doesn't take long, though, for the monster to draw blood from the World champion. Angle is lacerated early after meeting the cage head-on. Ref Rudy Charles is bumped down, but a commercial break allows him time to recover. Abyss went for the Shock Treatment, but Angle countered into the anklelock. Abyss kicked out, then applied the hold himself. However, there would be no tap-out on this night. Judas Mesias (Ricky Banderas, the last Wrestling Society X champion) debuted, entering through the bottom of the ring, and attacked Abyss. Mesias had blood pouring from his mouth, and "dead eyes", which I guess suggests he's supposed to be a zombie. Anyway, Abyss is taken out as Angle escapes. Mesias emptied Abyss' bag of glass and ran a shard across both of the man-monster's arms, then licked the blood off the shard. He bit Abyss' head, and beat him down. Winner: None. Match declared no-contest.
