We open tonight with a meeting of champions. John Cena and Chairman Wackjob, newly crowned ECW champ Vince McMahon. Crazy Vinnie's trying to sound hip, but that do-rag clashes with his sport coat. Cena just ain't digging, and comes up with a new meaning for the letters ECW: Extremely Crazy White-boy. LOL! Shawn Michaels joins the conversation, and says Cena was lucky at Backlash. It's better to be lucky than good sometimes. HBK wants another match, and of course, Cena's happy to oblige, but Mr. McNutty isn't willing to sanction it. Instead, he wants another non-title match, and if HBK wins, he gets the title match next week. Mr. McNutty struts off, and Cena sums it up rather nicely, and accurately. "He's lost it." Could've told you that a long time ago, champ.

Edge vs. Randy Orton. This match was advertised for last week, but never took place since Orton wasn't in England. JR says that Cena-HBK II, which was a match of the year candidate, clocked in at 60:15, counting commercial breaks. This opener is almost as good, and just as intense. Key point in the match saw Edge spear Orton from behind as Randy was on the apron. Orton fell over the announce table, and it looked like that might be the end right there. Orton, however, fights on, prompting some "Randy! Randy!" chants from the crowd. Orton juices from a snake eyes on the top turnbuckle. Dodges the spear twice, but after missing on the RKO, ends up eating the spear after all, and is pinned. Winner: Edge.

Jeff Hardy vs. Johnny Nitro. Nitro still shares the same theme music as Melina, but the women's champ hasn't been accompanying him to ringside of late, and he also doesn't get the red carpet treatment. Hmm. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch are at ringside for commentary, and put over the Hardys beating them at Backlash, claiming to have a new found respect for the tag champs. I smell an ambush on the way. We've seen better from Hardy & Nitro when they feuded over the IC title last fall, and this deserved much more time. Nitro hit the Snapshot 2.0 (Rude Awakening), but got only a 2. Hardy backdropped Nitro off the turnbuckle, then hit the Swanton to pick up the win.Winner: Jeff Hardy.Post-match, Cade & Murdoch tried to shake hands with Hardy, but he just held up the tag belt and left, not trusting the challengers..

After Backlash, Rob Van Dam made some comments regarding Chairman Wackjob being ECW champ. Well, Mr. McNutty isn't digging, even though RVD went out of his way to avoid totally disrespecting him. Vince is backstage with Shane, who will manage Umaga tonight in place of the injured Armando Estrada. Shane tells his dad he loves him, but he seems to be digging the ECW belt even more. Hmmmm.......

Umaga (w/Shane McMahon) vs. Rob Van Dam. The match is underway as we return from commercial. About what you'd expect, and RVD's not the first ECW Original to feel the wrath of the Samoan Bulldozer, as Sabu was squashed a few months back, also on Raw. Shane never gets involved, as ref Chad Patten kept him in check throughout the match. RVD hits the Rolling Thunder for 2, but the turning point comes when he hits the 5-Star Frogsplash, turning in mid-air. Umaga, however, has enough presence to grab RVD by the neck before Van Dam can bounce off him, and hits the Samoan Spike to pick up another win.Winner: Umaga.

John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels (non-title).This match never took place, as HBK was ambushed backstage by an unknown party. Jon Coachman, seeing Cena on the scene, thinks the champ did it. Cena grabs Coach by the collar, then lets him go. Chairman Wackjob shows up after Cena leaves, and sends Coach to investigate.

Carlito & Ric Flair (w/Torrie Wilson) vs. World's Greatest Tag Team. For those of you who've waited patiently for the feud between Flair & Carlito to finally begin, well, now it's here. The match was pretty even for a while, with Carlito the face in peril. After a hot tag to Flair, and after clearing Charlie Haas out of the ring, Carlito turned on Flair and the brawl was on. These two went back and forth, with Flair chasing Carlito to the back while Torrie and the WGTT looked on, stunned. Winner: None. Declared a No Contest.

Mickie James & Candice Michelle vs. Melina & Victoria. Candice has got a little bounce to her step this week, trying to keep up with Mickie. Typical women's tag, and JR makes the same remark about Candice he's made about Maria, that she's been improving of late. Well, it's much more obvious, since Candice has been adding to her moveset, including a stuff head-scissor takedown that nets a near fall. At the end of the match, the LA Bully-Babes (Melina & Victoria) try a double-suplex, but Mickie kicks Melina down, and Candice rolls up Victoria for the win. Winners: Candice Michelle & Mickie James.

John Cena finally comes out and cuts a short promo. Whomever's been responsible for wiping out Edge, HBK, & Orton wants a piece of the WWE title, so Cena calls out the attacker. Turns out to be the Great Khali. Well, if it wasn't him, it'd have been Snitsky, IMPO. And just like the others, Cena is taken out, hard and fast, but not before attempting an FU. Khali blocked with a pair of elbows to the temple, then the tree slam.
