Shane McMahon comes out to announce the draft, scheduled
for June 11, where everyone is eligible. He also predicts
victory for his father at One Night Stand, and cuts a rhyming
promo on Bobby Lashley & John Cena, whom he'll face
in the main event.
Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch, & the Hardys vs.
Johnny Nitro, Kenny Dykstra, Charlie Haas, & Shelton
Benjamin. Jerry Lawler is hinting that Cade &
Murdoch might turn on the Hardys in this match, but his
teasing actually is reverse psychology, meaning there is
no turn in sight. Easily the best match on the card. Highlight
of this match was Murdoch hitting a plancha off the top
turnbuckle. Whodathunk? Finish saw Cade & Murdoch clear
out Haas & Benjamin, leaving Dykstra all alone to eat
the Twist of Fate and the Swanton Bomb. Good night! Winners:
Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch, & the Hardys. Post-match,
Benjamin grabbed a mic and challenged the Hardys for One
Night Stand. Matt accepted, making it a ladder match. With
the draft coming up, I smell a possible title change.
Todd Grisham interviews John Cena. Da Champ realizes he's
got his doubters and detractors, but he intends to prove
them wrong by beating Great Khali at One Night Stand. He
put over the fact that it's pinfalls only by noting that
he has to throw submissions out the door this time. Meanwhile,
Maria has changed outfits and interviews first Santino Marella,
then Randy Orton. She's quite taken with the IC champ, and
perhaps vice versa, as Marella notes he'd be happy no matter
where he goes in the draft as long as he's the IC champion.
Marella leaves, and Orton appears. He claims to have some
respect for Shawn Michaels, but none for Rob Van Dam, whom
he's challenging tonight in our next match.....
Randy Orton vs. Rob Van Dam. After the
fast pace of the 8-man tag, this seems more like slow motion,
and it is. RVD is apparently going out of his way not to
injure Orton, but the "Legend Killer" might not
have any such compunctions. The turning point comes before
the break, when Orton dropkicked RVD off the top and onto
the security rail. From there, it began to look like an
instant replay of Judgment Day, with RVD in the role of
HBK. After a DDT off the middle rope and 2 kicks to the
head by Orton, ref Chad Patten stops the match. Orton hit
the RKO after for additional effect. Van Dam might have
just gotten his out card.Winner: Randy Orton via referee
stop.
Ric Flair & Torrie Wilson vs. Carlito &
Victoria (intergender tag). Victoria is rockin'
the Raw colors tonight. Black baseball cap and leotards,
red fishnet tights. The pigtails are a little much, though.
This went nowhere as well. Flair dominated Carlito early,
but when Victoria was tagged in, Flair wouldn't attack,
it seems, unless provoked. Victoria slapped him twice. Flair
went right for the figure four, but Carlito broke it up,
and reversed it so Vic had control. After Torrie was tagged
in, Carlito took Flair out on the floor. Carlito tagged
in, and kissed his ex, then hit the Backstabber after a
slap from Torrie. Winners: Carlito & Victoria.
Shane McMahon, Umaga, & Great Khali vs. John
Cena & Bobby Lashley. Earlier, Umaga &
Khali met backstage and it looked like there might be a
throwdown right there, but Shane got the two monsters on
the same page, as long as he collects the pin. How selfish
has he gotten all of a sudden? How uncool was this? Cena
gets a mixed reaction, evidenced by the dual chanting of
the crowd. He was face in peril for much of the match. At
one point, Umaga instinctively went for the pin, but Shane,
you could see, tried to get in, as if to remind Umaga of
the deal. Lashley tagged in just once, right at the end
of the match. Umaga eliminated Cena on the floor with the
Samoan Spike. Khali hit the Tree Slam, and then Shane hit
the elbow off the top and got what he wanted. I hope this
equals Lashley getting the ECW title back on Sunday. Winners:
Shane McMahon, Umaga, & Great Khali. The main event
by itself demonstrated the lack of roster depth and lack
of creative imagination, just to bolster the McMahons' out
of control egos
