Tonight's program is dedicated to our veterans, with a narrator reading a quotation from President Dwight Eisenhower in November, 1954.

The interbrand crossovers continue as we're now 6 days away from Survivor Series, with World Champion Batista kicking off tonight's show. (No theme music)

Batista reveals that he was invited by GM William Regal, but he's not really in the right frame of mind, as he's preparing to face Undertaker at Survivor Series. Starts to cut a promo on Taker, but the Deadman comes out. It appears they're going to fight, but Regal comes to the stage, and reveals that they're partners tonight in our opening bout against "the finest tag team on Raw". Yep, the tag titles are being buried again......

Match 1: Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs. Undertaker & Batista (non-title) Squashola! As good as Cade & Murdoch are, they were treated as enhancement talent here. Batista hit the spinebuster on Cade, but as he shook the ropes to set up for the Batista Bomb, Undertaker tagged himself in, and hit the chokeslam. Murdoch broke up the pin, then wished he hadn't, as Batista speared him halfway to Miami. One tombstone later, and Cade is done. Winners: Undertaker & Batista.

Post-match, playing a game of one-upsmanship, Batista powerbombed Murdoch.

JR & the King are hyping the release of the Smackdown vs. Raw '08 game, out tomorrow, with the entrances of Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton. Champion & challenger will be face-to-face tonight, with the ultimate agent provocateur, Vince McMahon, moderating. Uh-oh!

Match 2: Beth Phoenix vs. Maria Kanellis (non-title) Squashola #2. Oh, Maria tried, but more time was spent hyping the 10 woman tag both will be involved in on Sunday. Winner: Beth Phoenix.

Post-match, Santino Marella came out and checked on Maria, who was still selling the effects of the fisherman buster. Then, Marella cut a promo on Stone Cold Steve Austin (apparently learning nothing from last week). With Austin back in L. A., Marella turned his attention to Jim Ross. Ross feigned standing up to answer Marella's demand for an apology, but Jerry Lawler took up the gauntlet instead. Lawler followed Marella to the ring. Santino dared Lawler to hit him, offering him a free shot. Lawler took it, alright, and dropped the former IC champion with a right hook. Marella fled, shouting threats.

Back from commercial, and Marella is about to be interviewed by Todd Grisham. Marella takes the mic and challenges Lawler to a match. Even though the King is in civvies this week, he'll take the match.

Now, they're recapping the Randy Orton-Shawn Michaels feud up to last week's announcement (first revealed on ECW) that the superkick has been banned from the title match at Survivor Series. However, the DQ goes both ways, because if Orton gets himself DQ'd on purpose, he loses the title!

Match 3: Rey Mysterio & the Hardys vs. MVP, Finlay, & Mr. Kennedy All 6 men will be back later as lumberjacks in the Triple H-Umaga match. Interesting to see MVP & Matt, the WWE tag team champions, on opposite sides, but they were doing this on house shows on the recent European tour. The most famous WWE fan in America, Rick Achberger, the Sign Guy, is in the house. Friends, HHH & Umaga are going to have go some to out-do this bunch. Porter was reluctant to even lock up with Matt, his regular partner of late, but more than willing to dish the punishment out to Mysterio. Finlay & Mysterio continued their issue, and Rey was face-in-peril. Negative points to Kennedy for not playing along, if you will, as the Side Effect was botched. Hot tag to Jeff, who promptly cleaned house. A picture perfect Whisper in the Wind was the beginning of the end for MVP. Mysterio came back and hit a double 619 on Porter & Kennedy, setting up the Swanton Bomb. Apparently, this was Jeff's answer to Porter for his selfish showboating on Friday. Winners: Rey Mysterio & the Hardys.

Vince McMahon is on his way to the ring. The face-to-face showdown between Orton & Michaels is next.

The meeting of the minds, shall we say, didn't really go so well. Vince wanted to remind HBK of the stips, but Shawn said he already knew, and knew that Orton dreamed it up himself. HBK, though, says he doesn't need his #1 finisher after all. He believes he can beat Orton with either a rudimentary wrestling move, or even a submission. His only real motivation, however, is the memory or Orton nearly ending his career 6 months ago, and the reactions of his wife & kids. They look ready to throw down, and Vince tries to intercede, but as HBK sets up to superkick the wicked chairman, Orton cuts him down with a chop block, then proceeds to assail the ribs with a series of kicks. He goes for the concussion kick, but McMahon cuts him off. Orton hits the RKO instead, and leaves Michaels lying.

Match 4: Melina, Jillian Hall, & Layla El vs. Mickie James, Michelle McCool, & Kelly Kelly Another preview of the 10-diva tag at Survivor Series. Well, at least it went just a wee bit longer than Beth Phoenix's match earlier. Melina & Michelle started, but everyone got their turn before it was done. Kelly did next to nothing, which should suggest that Sunday's match should be her last on television before they send her down for seasoning. Hot tag to Mickie, and like Jeff Hardy in the last match, she promptly cleans house. A head-scissor spiked Jillian's head on the canvas, ending the faux songbird's night. Layla came in, and Mickie kinda initiated her, if you will, with a kiss, then dimmed the '06 Diva Search winner's running lights with a roundhouse kick. Good-bye! Winners: Mickie James, Michelle McCool, & Kelly Kelly.

Match 5: Jerry Lawler vs. Santino Marella Now, remember, Lawler is wearing street clothes. Supposedly, he wasn't planning on competing here. Marella & Lawler exchanged blows throughout, and it actually looked like Marella would get the better of the hall of famer. Uh, not so fast. Lawler telegraphed a backdrop, and got kicked in the face as a result. Marella, however, made a cardinal rookie mistake and took his eyes off Lawler, taunting JR. Real stupidity, there. Lawler took advantage and cradled Marella for the winning fall. Winner: Jerry Lawler.

Earlier today, in an empty arena, William Regal organized a training session for Hornswoggle, and had ref Chad Patten & ring announcer Lillian Garcia in the ring for what amounted to a simulated match vs. "Great Khali" (Jonathan Coachman wearing a bad wig). Don't know if that's Chris DeJoseph (Big Dick Johnson) or another creative team member posing as "Runjin Singh", but he looks terrible in the part. Coach doesn't want to wear the wig, but Regal tells him he has to. Regal's a willing participant in the "match", though, shoving Coach over 'Swoggle, and that leads to a tadpole splash and a fast count from Patten. It won't be that simple on Sunday, and there's no guarantee 'Swoggle will win, either.

Todd Grisham interviews Triple H, who delivers a money promo on Umaga. 'Nuff said. The lumberjack match is next.

Match 6: Triple H (w/Rey Mysterio, Kane, & the Hardys) vs. Umaga (w/Big Daddy V, Matt Striker, MVP, Finlay, & Mr. Kennedy)(lumberjack match) Usually in these kind of matches, someone tips the scales in favor of the heel side, or, since we're close to the PPV, a full scale brawl breaks out. Let's see how this plays. For the most part, it's pretty even, but then things start spiraling out of control near the end. HHH is slumped in the corner as Umaga sets up for the butt splash. Kennedy gets in a couple of cheap shots, but all that does is wake up the Cerebral Assassin, who avoids the butt splash. Reverse whip, and HHH hits the knee to the head. DX chop, but Umaga counters the Pedigree with the Samoan Drop. Ron Simmons-style spinebuster, the same version used by Batista earlier, drops Umaga, but ref Mike Chioda is busy with MVP, who hopped onto the apron at the same time. Chioda turns around in time to see Finlay attack, and calls for the bell. Winner: Triple H via DQ.

As expected, a full on brawl breaks out to end the show.
