Match #1: Non-Title Match.
Paige (
NXT Women's Champion) vs
Sasha Banks w/Charlotte.
This was an OK match, nothing special; it lasted about five minutes.
Paige made
Banks tap out with a
Scorpion Cross Lock.
Winner: Paige via Submission.
Big E's Match Rating: 2/5.
Big E's Match Viewpoint:
I actually liked the match because I'm a huge fan of
Paige. I think she could be a future
WWE Diva Champion and could make that division worthy like the
Women's Division once was.
After the match,
Charlotte came from behind and attacked
Paige, but
WWE Diva Natalya came in for the save.
Match #2: Non-Title Match.
The Ascension (Viktor & Konnor), (
NXT Tag Team Champions) vs
Tyler & Cal Bishop.
This was another easy victory for the tag-team champions, as the match lasted about three minutes long.
Winners: The Ascension via Pin.
Big E's Match Rating: 1/5.
Big E's Match Viewpoint:
The
WWE NXT needs some decent tag-teams for the
Ascension to work with, not simply the jobber tag teams they have been running out there. The current line-up is getting boring to watch, as the
Ascension are man-handling every tag-team put in front of them.
Match #3: Mason Ryan vs
Wesley Blake.
Another short and boring match, as
Ryan dominated with his power and won using the
Cobra Clutch Slam. This match lasted little bit longer than the tag team match, about four minutes.
Winner: Mason Ryan, via Pin.
Big E's Rating: 1/5.
Big E's Match Viewpoint:
I was barley paying attention to this match as I was disinterested from the get-go. Didn't care too much about the outcome, either. Yawn.
Match #4: Xavier Woods vs
Alexander Rusev.
This match was the shortest match of the night, and lasted about two and half minutes.
Rusev won by submission by using the
Accolade.
Winner: Alexander Rusev, via Submission.
Big E's Rating and Viewpoint: 1/5.
Big E's Match Viewpoint:
I don't know what was the point of this match. Both guys are basically on the main roster; at least
Woods is.
Rusev simply appears on
Raw every week, but hasn't really wrestled yet. I think the reason they might have done this was to build
Rusev as a monster heel. Stay tuned.
Main Event, Match #5: Bo Dallas vs
Collin Cassidy.
I re-watched some of the main event match, and it was fairly decent--nothing special.
Cassidy showed a little fight in him, but
Dallas was pretty much in control, as he used a
Double-Armed DDT to gain the victory. The match lasted about 12+ minutes.
Winner: Bo Dallas via Pin.
Big E's Rating: 2/5.
Big E's Viewpoint: This match basically made
Bo Dallas a real threat to recaptured the
NXT Championship from
Adrian Neville. The rematch is scheduled in two weeks, on March 27.
Big E's Final Thoughts:
This was an awful show. All the matches--except for the women's and the main event--lasted less than five minutes. I hope that this isn't a weekly occurrence, where there are three short matches that last four minutes or less. I understand the
WWE wants to get in as many matches in an hour as they can, but three solid matches would be fine for most fans.
The only thing I enjoyed about the show was the women's match, and that is only because I am a huge fan of
Paige. She is special and will be a future star in this business if given the time.
I also like how they're making
Charlotte a legit heel and a threat to
Paige's NXT Women's championship.
Lastly, I hope next week's event is much better organized, because I like
NXT and enjoy watching it, but the last two haven't been what
WWE fans expect. Who knows what to expect, with such a difference from one week to the next, but I continue to hope for more consistency and longer, more riveting matches in the future.
Big E's Match of the Night: None of tonight's battles were worthy of "match of the night" honors.
Big E's NXT Rating: 3/10. Wow.
Thanks for reading, and until next week ,have a safe weekend and a Happy St. Patricks day!
