Reaction Zone - This should be your last Attitude Era flashback

Three years ago, WWE teased having Ronda Rousey team with The Rock vs. Triple H & Stephanie McMahon. That isn't happening, but three of the four will throw down in New Orleans on April 8 at Wrestlemania. It just happens that the 4th person now is Raw GM Kurt Angle.

In building the storyline over the last nine days, starting at Elimination Chamber, Uncreative, predictably, has ignored the simplest narrative. The past issues between the Olympic Gold Medalist, Angle, and Triple H, dating back to 2000. Remember that love triangle with Stephanie? Of course, her father thinks today's audience won't remember, but then again, he thinks only he and anyone else in his tax bracket can afford DVD players, DVR's, and other technology. There's still a chance they can use that shared history in this storyline.

See, Kurt can casually explain to Ronda that once upon a time, there was a mutual attraction between him & Stephanie, but HHH stood in the way, at the time a pompous, arrogant, self-serving, greedy bastich who had more experience in the company than Angle, and, had the front office in his pocket. What romantic feelings he had for Stephanie are long gone. She's got three kids by HHH. Angle has five in two marriages, but they were never destined to be a real life Brady Bunch. HHH dissed him on Raw, which suggested there were some old wounds from the past that had resurfaced.

Where I have a concern, of course, is with Stephanie. It will have been 3 1/2 years since her last match (Summerslam 2014 vs. Brie Bella), and she can't afford to be lazy in the ring, not against Ronda. She took her first table bump last year, and this year likely gets sent off with a worked injury for the first time in 15 years.

In my opinion, this should be the last time Vince revisits the Attitude Era at Wrestlemania or any other time, because the past should be kept there. He has little patience for developing new stars, something HHH should be able to help him with behind the scenes, but the old mule just won't listen to common sense. The Game's Mania losing streak will hit 3 in a row, but it's a question of whether or not he or his sexier half does the job.

For those of you who still visit this site and wonder why there've been no results of late, well, 2xzone has been slowly fading. The next Reaction Zone, covering the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2018, will be the last, as I will be the last one out the door. See you in 2 weeks.
