Reaction Zone - Jerry Lawler started this way, too

By day, Dalton Castle is a disc jockey for a Albany, NY-area radio station. His weekends are spent on the independent circuit, plying his other trade as a wrestler, with the nickname, "The Party Peacock". Of late, Castle's been using a lot of frequent flyer miles, and that could be because he's going national.

Over the first quarter of 2015, Castle has worked some Ring of Honor tapings, and took part in a TNA PPV taping for their "One Night Only" series. His string of working indie dates closer to his NY base ended on April 4 when he was booked for the ROH taping in San Antonio. Yes, it was more lucrative, of course, because it gets him back on television. A grudge match vs. Donovan Dijak will air on April 18-19 (check listings). If I'd read newsboard reports earlier, it appears ROH has signed Castle to a contract. Given his day job, he may just give Sinclair Broadcasting, ROH's corporate parent, the leverage it needs to land a booking in New York State.

ROH now has 2 NY'ers on the roster, the other being reDRagon's Bobby Fish, and it happens that he & Castle are good friends. I recall seeing them share space at a merchandise table at an indy show in the home district 2 years ago during an intermission. Right there, you see how Castle got even a look from ROH in the first place. Fish put in a good word, and Castle worked his first ROH show last year, but didn't get on TV, as it was, I think, a house show. Hometown fans haven't seen live the elaborate entrance Castle created for his ROH (and likely also TNA) appearances, but that could change.

Think about it. Should ROH land a booking in the Albany-Troy area, Castle can plug it forever on his show, without needing to disclose that he'd be on the card, although if Sinclair's TV stations in the market can work a deal with the radio station, the crossover potential would be off the charts.

Ring of Honor may have just found the last piece of the puzzle needed to break into upstate NY, and it has a couple of NY's own to thank.
