Thunder Struck - Ring of Honor Final Battle 2014 Analysis

Hanson defeats Caprice Coleman, Mark Briscoe and Jimmy Jacobs in a four corner survival match. Hanson hits a spin kick on Coleman for the three count.

^***1/4 - Almost a three and a half star match, but not quite. Outstanding start to this show tonight, and good win for the big man in Hanson!

Adam Page is introduced by Jimmy Jacobs and he's taking on Roderick Strong. Roddy wins the match when he uses the boston crab and Page passes out.

^***. Very good wrestling match. I'd almost go another quarter of a star but they just didn't do quite enough for that. Great action and no surprise that Roddy came out on top here!

Michael Elgin is taking on Tommaso Ciampa next! Should be epic!

Elgin wins a lengthy battle with a double underhook jumping DDT. Ciampa accidentally nailed a ref during the match. Not good for him.

^Loved this one too! ***. Great back and forth pro wrestling here from two brutes. Hope Ciampa isn't fired via storyline.

The Young Bucks and ACH defeat Cedric Alexander and the Addiction. ACH wins after a four fifty.

^****1/4. Unbelievable six man tag! The superkicks and the nonstop madness made this an epic matchup - It's very likely joining my top ten matches of the year for 2014. Fucking incredible action!

RD Evans will now take on Moose w/Prince Nana and kill the crowd momentum. Veda Scott gets involved when the ref is distracted and turns on Evans. Moose wins the match with a spear after Scott low blows Evans.

^Very weak match. *. Not happy with the pacing. This lived up to its title of filler.

Jay Lethal defends the TV Title against Matt Sydal(Evan Bourne). Lethal wins the match with help from Truth Martini.

^That wasn't as good as I was expecting, but it was certainly above average. *** The whole thing felt like it was done more to put over Lethal as a heel than to elevate Sydal in any way.

The Time Splitters(Kushida and Alex Shelley) challenge reDRagon for the ROH World Tag Team Titles. reDragon retains when O'Reilly locks on a cross armbreaker with a leg grab modification for the tap out on Kushida.

^****. Unreal tag team wrestling. Nearly epic. Cannot say enough for the spots, submissions, technical battling and high flying athleticism all in one match. Definitely will make my NEW top ten matches of 2014 list. I can't believe we had this sort of follow up after that six man tag. Amazing show overall thus far!

It's time for our Fight Without Honor Main Event for the ROH World Title with Jay Briscoe defending against Adam Cole. Can they deliver and match what we've seen thus far?

Jay Briscoe defeats Adam Cole in the fight without honor to retain his World Title.

^Great match. ***3/4 for quality. It was slow at points, but the story told with the brutality made for one helluva main event. Top to bottom, this card kicked ass. Amazing show and possibly in the top three of all time ROH events that I've seen. Loved it!
