Detailed Results
After the usual clip pack, Dario Cueto has Aerostar, Drago, & Fenix in his office. We are reminded that these three were eliminated in the first round of the trios tournament last year, so Cueto is changing things. Fenix will instead team with Jack Evans & P. J. Black, while Drago & Aerostar will renew hostilities in tonight's opener......

1. Drago vs. Aerostar.

This is a medallion match, as in the 2nd of the 7 Aztec Medallions that form the Gift of the Gods belt. Not as good as the best of 5 series from last season, but it is still a serviceable opener.

After a springboard codebreaker, Aerostar hits a top rope splash to get the better of Drago. This time.

Winner: Aerostar.

Taya informs Johnny Mundo that, despite his demand for a medallion, trying to play the same card that Big Ryck used last season, Mundo will face Cage in a steel cage for a medallion next week. Johnny is understandably pissed.

2. Trios tournament, 1st round: Fenix, P. J. Black, & Jack Evans vs. the Disciples of Death.

Evans' ego is getting in the way, and we haven't seen him and Black team up in the ring until tonight. No followup to the backstage imbroglio vs. Aerostar & Drago from a few weeks back. I wonder if they dropped that angle suddenly. As it is, Black behaves more like a face here, and he & Fenix do most of the work on offense, frustrating the former champs to no end. In the end, after Black & Evans had done topes on Sinestro de la Muerte and Barrio Negro, Trece is left alone with Fenix, who hits the 450 to win the match.

Winners: Fenix, P. J. Black, & Jack Evans.

Catrina is not pleased with the Disciples. Sinestro turns on his partners and "kills" them, absorbing their powers. Hmmmmmm.

Turns out the current champs, Ivelisse, Angelico, & Son of Havoc now must defend the titles vs. Black/Evans/Fenix, The Crew & Joey Ryan, and Rey Mysterio/Dragon Azteca, Jr./Prince Puma in a fatal 4-way eliminator next week for the titles. Dario Cueto must be a disciple himself. Of Roddy Piper.

3. LU title: Matanza Cueto (w/Dario) vs. Mil Muertes (w/Catrina).

Muertes is a default face in what ends up being a spectacular brawl. I'd think Muertes would be a tweener here, considering Catrina was booed earlier. Dario takes a shot at Muertes. Not a good idea. Matanza makes the save. Catrina decides to use the stone of death on Matanza, who no sells and tries chokeslamming Catrina, who can't teleport in front of the crowd. Muertes saves. The champ and the challenger brawl up into the bleachers and to the roof of Dario's office. Uh-oh! Muertes hits the Flatliner, and the roof collapses!

Winner: None.

At police headquarters, Captain Vasquez meets a city councilman who has ties to some higher power than the Mayor's office. He wants Vasquez to drop her case against Dario. Hmmmmm.......
