1. Michael Elgin def. Toru Yano.
2. Non-title: Dragon Lee def. Bobby Fish.
3. 6-man tournament: The New Kingdom def. The Bullet Club when Matt Taven pinned Matt Jackson.
1. Toru Yano vs. Michael Elgin.
Yano defeated Elgin during the G-1 Climax tournament this summer, albeit by countout, which cost Elgin dearly in terms of standing in the tournament. So, in the rematch, Elgin wasn't having any of Yano's usual antics. Still, Yano cut open a turnbuckle pad and used it on Elgin. No DQ was called, as apparently, ref Todd Sinclair felt the fans deserved to see a clear cut winner. Later, Elgin returned the favor. Yano with a low blow and a cradle for 2. Elgin has had enough, and bounces Yano off one of the exposed turnbuckles. One Elgin-Bomb later, and it's over.
Winner: Michael Elgin.
Clips of Bullet Club ROH's attack on reDRagon from a couple of weeks back lead to a promo from TV champ Bobby Fish, who defends vs. Adam Page next week. But first......
2. Non-title: Bobby Fish vs. Dragon Lee.
Lee is the CMLL Light Heavyweight champion, and made his ROH debut at All-Star Extravaganza. Fish was still selling the rib injury sustained at the hands---and a chair--of Page. Lee had his shoulder taped due to an undisclosed injury. Back & forth they went. This was billed as a Proving Ground match for Lee, and with good reason. A win here, and he earns a TV title shot. Both of these guys worked hard to get this over, and it worked. Fish tried a brainbuster, but could not muster the strength to complete the move. Lee hit La Magistral to pick up the win and a title shot.
Winner: Dragon Lee.
The two embraced and shook hands out of respect after the match. You won't get that from Adam Page.
Highlights of the 6-man tournament so far. Bracket B begins next.
3. 6-man tournament, bracket B first round: Bullet Club (Adam Cole & the Young Bucks) vs. the New Kingdom (Matt Taven, TK O'Ryan, & Vinny Marseglia).
Marseglia has been on before as a rent-a-jobber. O'Ryan makes his ROH debut. Taven has said all along this Kingdom would be in his image, not in that of Cole or Mike & Maria Bennett, the latter pair now in TNA. Bullet Club gained the upper hand early, but could not sustain the advantage. Predictably, it was your usual 6-man schmozz. Double Meltzer Driver blocked. O'Ryan got rid of Nick Jackson. Marseglia took out Cole. Taven hit the Climax on Matt Jackson. Marseglia with a Swanton bomb before Taven moved in for the pin. The New Kingdom advances.
Winners: The New Kingdom.
Next week: Fish vs. Page, plus Team CMLL vs. the Addiction & Kamaitachi.
